here's a reason for you boycotters to watch: http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=080807171647.58r598sd&show_article=1 could be very exiting. why can't people keep their politics away from the olympics? this is probably why they stopped having them at all the first time around. everyone wants a platform, i guess.
Nuh uh. China's government does. Honestly even if I wasn't gonna boycott it, I wouldn't have watched it anyways. It bores me.
So I am self righteous because I am not interested in the olympics and find china's government oppressive? And I haven't seen any of the world? Hmmmm... kay. Gotcha.
every place is oppressive to people. no matter where the olympics are held people will use it as a vehicle for their beliefs. they should shut the fuck up
True enough but I think a lot of it has to do with how China wants to be more and more accepted into the global community and wanted to use the olympics to do so- however the things that continue to happen there are disgusting. I could care less if someone watches the Olympics or not really... I just find it boring PERSONALLY... and I'm still not getting why Praxis thinks that has to do with not seeing the world or whateves... there is a lot more to the world then the olympics.
There IS no global community. Global community is the most oppressive concept there is. Wake the fuck up.
LMFAO. Um, duh. I've been saying that for years. I was quoting words that the Chinese government said. Yeaaahhh...
change doesn't happen quickly. i don't understand why people think a billion plus populace country can just outright change as quick as we want them to. they've made progress. and they'll continue to make progress, but it takes time. the US is still working on progress for better quality on human rights, and in parts, we've gone way far backwards. people want fantasy change, not realistic change timelines
Yeah, I can dig that. I guess I just hate governments in general n such. If it was up to me I'd take over the world and destroy all governments.
Progress is not measured by what the American media says. I wonder what your definition of progress will be in 50 years when the Chinese goverment is more economically powerful than the U.S. government.
The only thing I would see as progress would be no governments... the rest I just see as bullshit. And do you think I care if the Chinese gov. is stronger or not... when I refuse to accept the concept of countries?
I agree w/ fitz. And anyways... of course government exists- I just refuse to call myself an "American" or whatever... as anything more then anyone else who lives in the PLACE called NORTH AMERICA could say the same... You seem like you just want to argue... Yes, the Chinese government is oppressive. Are you trying to deny that? I'm not even sure your point..why you think I would care how powerful they become, etc.... oh well...
