If you don't like the politics of a country, you don't boycott its Olympic games, like President Carter did for the USSR in 1980. And then they had to do it to us in 1984. They were interviewing this UK athlete in 1984. And he said, politics aside, that ruins it for the athletes. They trained for four years. And then they are denied their chance to shine, even if it is because of something stupid their government did. Same thing with Zola Budd. She was a decent person, she certainly didn't support apartheid in her home country of South Africa in the 1980's. But she wasn't allowed to compete. So they said, alright, you can compete as a British athlete. The athletes did nothing wrong. Leave them alone.
