She has returned. My gramma was born in 1884 and she told me of rowing around on the lake when she was young. In the wet years, the lake would come close to my home town of Lemoore and in those days Tule elk, Antelope, deer and bear were plentiful around the lake. The native Americans lived around the lake then also. They are having a hell of a time there now, what with all the rain and the coming snow melt. I used to drive down to Corcoran to do some roofing jobs when I still lived in California, but as the pictures show---no way could that be done now. My great grandfather was in a posse hunting for Joaquin Murietta back then , when he came upon Murietas nephew Precopio, who was also a bandit in those days. Grand dad and another man with him had a shoot out with Precopio and the man with my grand dad was hit with a bullet or two. I don't remember if he was killed or just injured. ------Just part of the history of our family from that era.
