There are ALOT OF OLDER SHOWS I WOULD LOVE WATCHING!!! Trouble is I cant find them LIKE I WATCHED THEM THEN.. (In thier original pure analogue formats) I dont like how they look/sound behind this digital stuff...... ITS NOT THE SHOWS I REMEMBER.......
your insane converting old analogue video to digital will still retain all the low resolution, scratchy picture, muddy colors, and low quality sound of the original, so I have no idea what you are bitching about.
Not all of the digital conversions are so nice. Episodes of older sit-coms look weird. I thought it might be the fault of the TV, but after watching on an old one we have in the basement, something is awry here and there. But I can say that about some digital conversions going back to silent films. I used to watch Harold Lloyd movies when I was really stoned and listening to Styxx, Nazareth, Kraftwerk, ELO and of course Pink Floyd. When I see Harold Lloyd these days it looks like someone shot he video from an old tube type TV or something. Or it was converted from Super-8. Maybe all that aspect and scan shifting as TV sets evolved has had some bearing. Another thing I have noticed is that a lot of stuff has been heavily edited. One example is a Bugs Bunny cartoon with Daffy Duck. Daffy has been trying to upstage Bugs all night on stage. The audience applauds furiously for Bugs, for Daffy, only crickets. So Daffy comes out dressed as Satan and consumes various flammable liquids like gasoline, rocket fuel, paint thinner and then finally, some Uranium 238. Lastly, Daffy ingests a lighted match. Naturally he explodes on stage and the audience goes wild. Bugs is congratulating him as Daffy floats up with his wings and says "the problem is that I can only do it once". Well, if you see it these days, he's only ingesting Uranium and a match. Why? Because I guess people worried about the example being set and that a child could be stupid enough to emulate what they have seen the cartoon do. The dumb little kid may just want to be able to fly like Daffy. But I don't know if that's the real reason. It could also be they were trying to cut his time on screen, because he's a black duck and racists have edited the cartoon. But finally I figured that it made the petrochemical industry look bad, so Bush had it altered. :sifone:
sometimes when Im watching black and white shows Im amazed at the picture quality.. I still prefer Andy Griffith in black and white. When it went color, just wasnt the same.. Where Gomer Plye improved with color.
I thought this would be a thread about old shows that haven't made their way to Netflix yet. in which case I was going to say Roc or Martin, which aren't that old. They're from the 90s. I was thinking about these shows the other day because you hear a lot about the lack of diversity in tv today but in the 90s a lot of my favorite shows were black sitcoms.
you used to be able to go to the public theatre and watch an all male cast perform plays. then SOME ASSHOLE CREATED VIDEO AND NOW WE HAVE THE OPTION TO WATCH PEOPLE PERFORMING ON TV OR IN MOVIES AND IT'S CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!
