but barbacoa tastes nice and it has barely any spices... maybe I should stop arguing... tstes are tastes
American style tacos are usually larger and contain a spiced ground beef which taste not good. Or a breakfast taco/burrito which is egg, sausage/bacon, cheese, potatoes whatever else. I love some real tacos, like al pastor (my favorite), carne asada or bistec, and barbacoa is really good. I like birria as well. But I absolutely love a carne asada torta The only place in the US I know of that makes the best authentic mexican tacos is in Chicago, but I am biased since I love my hometown
I know what American "tacos" are like. Our Mex is something quite different. I just got back to Texas today and nearly wept while eating some legit Mexican and 'ritas.
lol i hate freebirds, but I'm not a burrito fan really. Juan in a Million is dank though :cheers2: holes in the wall are definitely the best.
wait... legit mexican food in texas? that just doesnt sond right to me... but in the end food is food and as long as its edible its ok bt Ive really grown fond of mexican food is just the unhealthiness to it, the artery plugging, slow death food is the way for me. not sure if this is true really but I think that many people not used to Mexican food will usually get turned away from it after experiencing "la maldicion de moctezuma" or translated the curse of moctezuma, but it may also just be a way of us mexican people finding pride in something
I eat burritos and chips and salsa everyday. Most everything I eat is spicy. I love mexican food. It's my favorite, all forms. But I don't see how Tex Mex style mexican is any less Mexican. Food changes with culture, time, and geographical region. Doesn't mean it is the real deal or something. It uses mexican spices and ingredients mixed with American flavors and style. Best of both worlds if you ask me. Food is food so long it takes good.
I don't eat meat lol but i will admit i like real mexican quesadillas will seafood in it is AMAZING and mexican beer aint half bad lol
hmm I love mexican food, it's become my favorite type of restaurant to go to because of all the yummy vegetarian options.
i can't eat there vegitarian stuff cuz i am crazy and hate beans and rice ( iremove rice from everything i eat if it is there lol) but i do like cheese lol
what do you eat for protein domikatetrix? Just curious because it's a challenge for me to find good sources that I like. I eat a lot of beans and rice. edit sorry this thread has gone completely off topic, I'll scan some old pictures today and put them up in penance
yeah i don't get refried beans cause they are cooked in lard but i love black beans. and you can get a quesadilla or an enchilada and not have to deal with rice or beans but i love rice and beans. some of the best sources of protein are edamame, corn, and beans. you can't really rely solely on cheese and expect to be healthy if you're not eating legumes...
well, el paso mex. not necessarily the most authentic mex but FUCK, so much better after being in colorado and even arizona and cali. blech.
lol how does that not sound right? the Texas population is mostly hispanic, whites are actually the minority here...especially in san antonio (and of course the border towns are pretty much only hispanic)...it would make sense to me that we have great mexican food here, considering most people here are mexican  though personally im not the biggest fan of mexican food...i like it, hell it can even be more than delicious, but it is just about never my first choice... i like chinese food...american-chinese food...haha...
yes tex-mex is MUCH better than any other states mex amazingly enough though, one of the BEST mexican meals i've ever had i actually got on an US Air Force Base in germany
we call san antonio little Mexico. even the whiteys who have lived there for ages have Mexican souls. Texas used to be a part of Mexico you know...
