Thunder often heralds tornadoes! There's a reason Twister had lots of scenes shot at the airport in Norman! Day one after is rough. Lots of processing the immensity of damage while also finding what you can if your own place was hit, and helping neighbors. Usually both.
Yes it does. During the last two days, before tornados all you could hear was a constant rumble of thunder with no breaks at all.

Someone I know who lived in Europe and who now lives in the U.S. scoffs at all the fuss about tornadoes. He's says that they are nothing but a breeze that rustles the napkins on your dining room table. He really believes this too.
2013.. There is no reason that many people should die in a daylight tornado. Advance warning, its daytime, its in an area where shelters should be built everywhere within running distance of housing. All new housing built there need underground safe rooms. No school built there should be without a storm shelter, a single story underground. I cant rant about wasteful military spending on an invisible enemy.. blah. I need to save my carpule tunnel. I might need to dig my own shelter.
Many local people on the news have stated that it is very hard to dig in the area that was struck due to the layer of rock. So most homes don't even have basements.

baseless and insensitive claim Noted conspiracy theorist, soothsayer of all things ridiculous, and radio host Alex Jones has come out with the baseless and insensitive claim that the U.S. government "can create and steer groups of tornadoes." During The Alex Jones Show on Tuesday, the day after a devastating tornado swept through Moore, Oklahoma, killing at least 24 people, Jones responded to a caller who was asking about weather modification by the government by saying, via a lengthy tangent, that while he didn't know if the Oklahoma tornado "was a weather weapon or not," the government can, and does, influence the weather. With the caveat that "natural tornadoes do exist," Jones then goes on to say that the possibility of government involvement in the Moore tornado apparently hinges upon whether people saw helicopters and small aircraft "in and around the clouds, spraying and doing things." Such vague and ridiculous "evidence" would apparently be enough to conclude that the government was involved. As Jones continues, "if you saw that, you better bet your bottom dollar they did this," before adding, "but who knows if they did."
Is it his claim the obama government is trying to divert attention away from the embasy attack and IRS-Gate? Hotwater
With modern equipment storm shelters shouldn't be a problem. What I've seen in towns bordering the 'alley' is that almost all the older homes had shelters but none of the '50s and newer tract type homes did. "Root cellars are old fashioned thing of the past!"
I have no idea. I'm sure after he trotted out the usual crap about weather manipulation, he found some reason why it may have been done - while claiming it's 'only a possibility'.
