Ok...I'm slightly amused by the sex threads...

I realize I said "seriously" at the beginning of my OP but I hoped my sarcasm was obvious.

And I have no issue with sex threads.

 

I just realized that I have never made a thread in those forums. Perhaps it is time for me to consider doing so as I may make new friends.

If it's technically possible, a partition would be a good idea.

Pretty much everyone here is able to stomach the kink threads in the active thread list to some degree. That doesn't mean that most people are like that though. Judging by the number of people who join but then disappear, we're probably unusually tolerant.

Ideally there could be a separate active threads list for the folks who aren't into the kink and hard drugs.

 

I dunno I think that takes away from what hip forums is well at least what it is to me. I feel like this is a place where the tolerant come to meet and people who look and see a hard drugs thread or a kink thread and feel uncomfortable or that it's not their thing shouldn't be here in the first place.

for some people, the main appeal of HF is that it is a hippie site. for others the appeal is that has kink and HD. for others, it's that it's a free speech site.

ideally, everyone would be able to experience the site in the way that they choose.

if people who are uncomfortable with kink and HD are excluded, the hipforums may not survive in any case.

I need to rephrase what I said earlier....sex talk does not disgust me, even though I don't really choose to do it on a public forum...it was some of the other things that disgusted me that I was thinking of earlier.....yeah, the stepdad with his 12 year old daughter stuff....the outrageous, nutso stuff, but still it is freedom of speech....and one of our ammendments, of the constitution, as well, so carry on.....

Yes, this is the idea, for me the site is all good, I just ignore most religion threads and the drug threads because I am not into either but if they did separate these areas you could ask to be in them, this way what ever you asked to be in opens all those threads as you come into the site. What you didn't ask to be in won't show up so you are only as safe as you want to be. Best part is by allowing noobs to rest a while on the main board before being allowed in the sex area, we'd have little to no troll action in the sex forums, (typing gross shit and wanking to our responses) seen it work well in other sites. It probably could here as well since those types of threads are annoying, especially to those here for hippie stuff but not sex stuff.
As for me I would probably only opt out of the drug section and possibly the religion section if they were separates as well but it doesn't bother me at all. It would only help to narrow my "recent posts" list down to what I like most.
If only one section was allowed to separate on the site then I would suggest the sex threads separate, that's where I see most of the trolling and so it would be used as a trolling control as well as to help save some sensitive eyes from the dirty side of our hippie lives, haha. Ya, We all know we are nothing but a bunch of dirt bag sexually deprived hippies here.
