maybe the russian idea of using atomic blasts to close the well will be the least evil in the end. it looks like the pressures in play are unmanageable. burying two or three tiny atomic charges deep in the bottom of the sea around the well and blasting them could shrink and disrupt the oil line for good. if them corporate apocalypse-monger scumbags at BP managed to drill a mile of rock for extracting oil the US army can also try to drill some shorter ones, insert charges in it, plug them and set off the mines. i hope 2 or three 1-kiloton firecrackers could do the trick and, for once in history, atomic bombs could be used for some good deed., to save the sea and not to destroy. don't start throwing chairs and bottles at me, i am not a big fan of nuclear blasts but if there is one thing that scares me more than ray pollution under a mile of water and half a mile of rock is a layer of oil covering a large part of the Atlantic, that keeps spreading indefinitely. chemotherapy sucks ass but it is better attempting it than waiting for death from cancer, dig it ?
remember that this novelty of the «season of typhoons» (see how passively we accept everything, we're holy cows watching stoned the Armageddon) is kicking in and will only worsen and fuck everything up if the spill won't be cauterized in time.

we are gonna suffer much from the long term effects of this oil spill... the whole food chain is gonna be thrown off, water will be contaminated, you have the possibility of acid rain.. us as humans are destroying ourselves.. we have the luxury of turning on a spicket and getting water, you can turn a switch and have light, we have so many things that most take for granted, even I take was is easily available to me for granted at times... but the point is.. this new generation has no idea what its like to suffer... but soon they will see what its like to go hungry or go thirsty and have no where to live.. the spoiled rotten people that are running this country arent thinkin of us.. they are thinking of whats goin in their pockets.. its disgusting but true.. thats why its so important for us to stick together at times these.. at all time for that matter.. cuz it dont matter what you are driving, or if you have a tv to watch, or have a computer to chat or look up stuff.. all that will matter is the memories you have with the people around you.. thanks.. just some things that were on my mind

if the problem was just that our leaders only care for their pockets, that would be good news. but it is worse than this in my opinion. even those who at least from time to time sincerely want to find solutions find themselves in front of the impossibility to apply real solutions. the reason is that unless private property of the means of production and private enterprise aren't radically banned, the govts will always be the servants of the wealthy oligarchies that got them elected and BP is a part of a much larger beast that cannot be tamed by obama, the people of the usa or anyone else. the big transcontinental corporations are today our real governments. they make the decisions that matter. in my opinion unless the industry is under complete public control and ownership of a truly democratic country, things like the BP deepwater horizon rig blast, or worse than that, will keep happening, and we shall be doomed as a species. just my opinion. what i sketched shortly is called socialism, not 'soviet union' or 'dictatorship of proletariat', neither 'communism' . obama, spite of what many say in the US, is no socialist at all and is not going to solve shit and if he attempts to do something serious about this and other future oil disasters in a way that conflicts with the interest of the true masters of the world, he is a dead man.

Any major corporation certainly has the funds to hire a hit man, that's not how they operate, though. Instead, they will put $millions into the elections this fall to put the Republicans back in control of Congress and their world will be back in order.

Republican Joe Barton from Texas stated the Republican stance best when he issued an apology to the CEO of BP for Obama's "Shakedown" of the $20 billion trust fund clean up the gulf and compensate the victims.

What do you expect to happen? I think Obama has done everything in his power to do. BP is the only entity with the resources to anything.

The Obama bashing on this incident is getting a bit irritating. These Gulf Coast states are some of the most conservative "state's rights," "get the hell out of our yard federal gov'ment," "drill baby drill" states in the country. They wanted the jobs and economy that comes with offshore drilling and the consequences were no secret.

These states fought a war to keep the Federal government out of their business, but when they fuck up, the feds can't get there fast enough or spend enough money to bail them out. Where is that "personal responsibility" and "states should have the power" mentality now?

turns out that Obama is powerless and BP rules thanks to its awful mountain of money and a corrupt judge ? I do think so, hope I'm damn wrong . Well, I am not an expert in US constitutional right but IMHO what you need now is to go the straight way and outlaw offshore drilling by federal law. Or this matter is responsibility of singular states ? Can you US citzens deliver a people-written project of law by public referendum ?

Goes by state, some states you can, some you can't. There's no such thing as a national electorate in the US since technically even the president is elected by the state electoral college.

But really, the 6 month ban was just a knee jerk reaction, drill next week, drill in November, there's really no difference.

in the meantime rigs are spilling oil like madness

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100621/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_egypt_oil_spill_1

and this thing is not even news

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montara_oil_spill

so i guess, dr. Frank Fenner must be right and we are a bunch of morons. all the world is talking so much about the D.H. oil spill just because this time is up to the USA to drink some shit, this is a large scale disaster but it is only one .
between now and extinction day it is a seamless gradient of all the shades of shit, bright to dark.

    Okay...

    That just hurts my head...

A scientist that is renowned the world over, has been working on this type of research for decades, says, we will likely not last 100 years because of... and lists the reasons he says this...

    His collegue reponds with...
Out of everything I read in those articles, that bothers me the most...

When one scientist counters another's 'science' with 'hope'.... that should bother almost anyone...

Mine too. I agree with Frank, because we don't have the political will. We have an ocean dying before our eyes and the people most affected are not only calling for more drilling, but fighting in court for it. They don't even want a moratorium to check all of the other wells to make sure they're safe.

I just can't wrap my mind around all of this stupidity.

it is precisely what i think... and this oil rig accident only makes the thing more evident but there are countless examples of dissociated behavior in our countries. i think it all deals with early mind control (called education by square people, but the name is not exact) inflicted to people when they're little children. this is what makes people go to war if they're asked without rebelling, vote nixon, bush or berlusconi twice , go to church when you know they're just baby rapists and gangsters light years far from Christ and ultimately accept the news of the forthcoming apocalypse with a shrug. under many points of view, we all posting here in our oil driven homes are good specimens of this phenomenon. our place is elsewhere.
