Have you tried it? Did you notice a difference in your dental health?

I am seriously considering giving it a try, in hopes of whitening my teeth and improving my dental health.

    Thoughts?

I keep hearing about oil pulling lately. Give it a try, tell me how it goes! I've heard a lot of good things, but it might be the power of suggestion.

Hmm I have not. I might have to look into it myself. My teeth are not the whitest.

15 - 20 minutes seems like a long time to me, but I think I will start slow and work up to 20 minutes.

I haven't tried this, though I am a HUGE fan of coconut oil and have been using it several times per day for years. For a long time I was simply eating the oil off a spoon in its unadulterated, room temperature, semi-solid form. However, recently I have began swishing it around in my mouth before swallowing it. While this is not in accordance with the pulling method, and I generally only swish it around in my mouth for a minute or two, I have noticed some improvement in my teeth since doing this. I have some slight acid erosion of my teeth, and since doing this my teeth don't look quite as brittle around the edges.

Coconut oil is simply an amazing food with endless health benefits. The lauric acid found in coconut oil has immune boosting, anti-fungal, anti-viral properties that no other food does. At this point I cannot imagine going a day without it.

Nutiva is good, and I have used that brand in the past, though I am not sure it is "the best". It's simply the most popular brand on the market. Typically the best coconut oils are manufactured in the same country the coconuts to make it come from. I also think expeller pressed is preferable to cold pressed, since organic expeller pressed coconut oils have the assurance that no solvents such as hexane have been used. I personally use Wilderness Family Naturals expeller pressed extra virgin coconut oil at the moment.

Artisana has an awesome product line. Try their walnut butter if you can. It's incredible. I have been known to eat an entire jar straight in under 5 minutes, making for one expensive indulgence. Their coconut butter is quite good also. They even make a cocao coconut butter I have been wanting to try.

    More Info On This Product

Once a central part of the traditional Pacific Islander diet, luscious coconut is fast becoming a staple in modern healthy diets as well. Coconut contains lauric acid, a medium-chain fatty acid also found in human breast milk. Lauric acid makes up about 50% of coconut oil. It is very healing and helps reduce diabetes... unlike other oils and fats which increase it.

Our coconut products come from Southeast Asia, where the coconut oil is processed immediately upon harvesting. The creamy, white meat of the coconut is scooped out of the shell by hand. What you get is simply the creamy, fresh flavor of pure coconut.

Our Organic Coconut oil is extremely versatile and can be used in place of both butter and other vegetable oils. A solid at cooler temperatures, it becomes liquid when warmed. It takes heat well and can be used for baking, sautéing, stir-frying or anywhere else someone might use vegetable oil, shortening or butter.

You should be Nutiva's spokeswoman. :p

I will admit I have been very satisfied with most of Nutiva's products. I have used their hemp protein powder in the past also.
