I'm not at all. Rock is definitely more segmented in its subgenres and really limits what you can do within the "parameters" of each subgenre. It gets confusing and doesn't promote artistic freedom, really. That is my take on it at least.

I am assuming Ian = Captain Cannabis. I don't try to piss him off in the least. I've tried a few times to reason with him, and I've even attempted to joke with him, but he isn't the type to really NOT flame others on the internet.

If artists have something to say they don't feel like pursuing within the framework of metal, that's what sideprojects are for. Metal isn't a subgenre of rock any more. It's its own thing. You seem hellbent on proving that hip hop as a whole must be more artistic than metal, and you're just wrong. I'm sorry.
