It's really, really not that complicated. Words like faggot are intentionally derogatory terms for homosexuals. Using the word fagot to describe a straight person in a derogatory fashion suggests that homosexuality is something to be ashamed of, and therefore suitable as an insult. This perpetuates negative attitudes towards homosexuality. That's not an opinion, that's a fact. You can choose to ignore it if you like, but that just makes you arrogant and insensitive. Try thinking about it a little.
