OH! hey everyone get this!

this was introduced on another forum too- it didn't work and was often abused. people should be able to make up their own minds without having to look at a bunch of little gems

 

i will contest that the only way you can really get to know if an individual is helpful is, well, if you get to know them. if you judge people by the number of "points"(in whatever form) that they accumulate, you are bound for disaster. beware to be aware.

i guess if i want another box im gonna have to be annoying and pipe in more often. goes heavily against my nature and the Tao, but if thats how you get karma over a computer, i guess its fitting.

 

if someone is helpful or smart about music, they might end up with a lot of points for that. but they might be a dumbass about fashion, and you wouldnt want to take their advice then, but if they had a lot of points from their music, you would know that they didnt really know anything about fashion, yk? i think it's a little silly, but i like it better than relying on post count. u still gotta use ur common sense

 

well of course you gotta use your common sense. this is suppose to help it doesnt wan people "relying" on it.

how can you find out how many you've got? It would be intereesting to know how many people think your an ass. And it lets you write a comment about that persons post so I would like to read what someone wrote about me if its possible.

 

oh ok it appears that if you click on your own scales you will find out how many points you have. Forget that then.

 

I vote....its a dumb idea...its childish and judgmental.

 

I guess it would be good if this entire forum was on one subject, but this is about everything and anything. if it was just about say, the beatles, then understandable....

uhm, I'm not sure..maybe just add to a rep. BUT then if someone was screwing around and kept on giving points, there would be no way to take them down again...

Ok... from what I have experienced from HipForums is that its not an info board but a community. We get to know other people and learn to love em (or not.) To me the whole reputation system will just break that up... Kinda like your just gonna make a glace at their rep and then decide their opinion aint worth shit... Real real BAD idea. Is their a way to turn your rep off? I don't wanna participate in this

 

It's seems like a bad system for lurkers, too.
