A toast to her, she giveth and she taketh away. Perhaps the toast should be ours. We taketh what she has to offer.
I have in the past, posted some of my story but I don't remember in which thread or it might have been that someone asked and I PMed them about it. But anyway, I've always felt near to God and that my life has been guided and protected. I have studied various religions and was finally drawn to Christianity, I don't know if that is what you would consider conversion or not.
The subject was not the temple of God nor was it the devotional heart of man, it was simply what are the guidelines for this forum and who established them.
There were two great havurot (brotherhoods) of Pharisees in the time of Jesus: the conservative literalist/legalist school of rabbi Shammai and the more liberal, flexible school of rabbi Hillel and his grandson Gammaliel, who taught Paul. To illustrate the difference, there is a story that a Gentile approached both Shammai and Hillel asking for a brief summary of the Tora--brief enough to be completed while he was standing on ont foot. Shammai chased him away with a stick for his impertinence. Rabbi Hillel, however, said "What is hateful to you, do not to your fellow man. This is the entire Torah. All the rest is commentary. Now go and study." If, as you say Jesus supported pharisees who taught the law of Moses, it seems apparent which Pharisees he supported. Jesus reserved his harshest words for Pharisees, whom he denounced as "hypocrites" (Mat. 23:13) and "a brood of vipers' (Mat.23:33). At the crux of his quarrel with them was their emphasis on the Torah shb 'al peh (the "unwritten Torah" or Tradition, which some held to be superior to the written law of the Bible (Mat. 15:1-9). Indeed, his ministry was largely a challenge to the cleanliness law of this tradition: healing on the Sabbath, associating with publicans and sinners, not washing his hands before eating, etc.
I have never said that you weren't a "Christian" and thus could not participate in the discussions in this thread.
The current bible is the complete and unadulterated word of God? Are you saying it is not? are you saying that it should contain your words of wisdom and then it would be complete? Perhaps when you start believing that the Bible is the complete and unadulterated word of God.
I'm not looking for the answer I want to hear, I'd be happy if your "answers" just actually had something to do with what is being said.
We are sharing information here waterbrother. I am not accusing you of anything, but your comment seeks to limit the scope of knowledge. I am speaking of things I am led to speak of. There is no barrier that cannot be transcended. If two or more agree on something then it shall be done for you. In order to be the salt of the earth we need be willing to transcend tradition in order to heal once and for all, "hardness of heart." In other words, withhold nothing from anyone. There is no taboo on communion that we should not challenge or quietly lay aside. Our relationships are Holy, cast the money changers out of the temple.
you said And I ask, why don't you take my word for it. I claim to be a follower of the teachings of Christ and as such baptized in the Holy Spirit who teaches me all things I seek to know?
But as usual your information not on topic. I didn't say you were and my comment does not seek to limit knowledge but the scope of the topic. I know you are. Perhaps but a discussion with no limits can get pretty far a field. If you say so but that's not exactly what God's word says. You're slipping into pseudo-Bible speak again.
Yes I did. I do take your word for it, I believe that you think you are a Christian and thus have never asked you to leave Sanctuary.
I know. Yes, the Bible is. I have given you clothes, food and drink but as they say; you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.
You perhaps haven't noticed we've gone on to new subjects. Your comment doesn't address what I said other than to say it is off topic. That statement shuts down the consideration of the substance of the statement. A discussion with attentive focus can be in depth and thorough I am using the words in a conversational manner to demonstrate their meaning, bible interpretation.
