    Cats and dogs can get along. But dogs do seem genetically predisposed to hate cats. Probably due to the fact they are canis lupus familiaris and cats are felis catus. Canis and felis. Two notorious competitors in prehistoric Africa. Like the African wolf or Canis lupaster. Cats often hate dogs, I've noticed. But not always by choice. Although we had one cat that did. Fluffy, 1988-99.

    But dogs and cats, like humans, can overcome their DNA. And some just don't have that gene, too.
