for entertainment, the whole: betsy draws/warlord of noodles/no evil series. (on you tube, and better then anything on corporate hulu or broadcast tv/movies or anything) link with a couple of the way back examples in the yee haw thread.
I can relate. My dad was at one time riding the caboose as a brakeman, then worked his way up to locomotive engineer. Seen him doing both.
I don’t have the time, patience or the materials. I could see many areas I would naturally screw things up, too. I’m not a crafty guy at all.
I wouldn't even begin to try Eric matey. People have said to me that I am dangerous with a hand tool in my hands.
the amount that goes into making a fited wearable costume, particularly of a beleivable non-human character is as much and more and worth the two or three thousand or more they cost. fun things to do when you have the time, space materials to work with.
you could always hide all but your arm behind a garbage can or a desk, like most paw pet stuff, or your green wall. props are the best, but time consuming to make. so many i've never gotten around to, when i had any kind of shop space to make them in. i do still have a wearable head i made for myself, but still have never gotten around to making an articulated jaw for it. still need to put see through eyes in the eye holes too. no idea if or when i'll ever get around to it. paid 70 bux for a wolf/husky tail. my old made myself cat tail getting kind of sadly worn looking. the kind of tail that would go with my 'sona is almost a couple of hundred bux u.s., and a head goes for around 1200.00, or so or more. or a partial, which is head, tail and paws, which is all you really need if you're 'sona wears ordinary clothing to cover the rest. full suits are beautiful though. just not for the faint of wallet. or if you have multiple other hobbies to flatten it all the quicker.
