Quan To Appoint Independent Investigator To Evaluate Police Department's Use Of Force http://www.baycitizen.org/blogs/pulse-of-the-bay/quan-appoint-occupy-investigator/
Politicking. She ordered the original police attack on occupy oakland. Then she tried to say she just told them to do their thing, and now if she orders an investigation, it puts responsibility with the investigators, and not her.
She got shouted out of a meeting last night by angry Occupiers; plus she's got that whole recall thing going against her too.
But who's paying the investigators....... I know they are "independent" but it's rare that they bite the hand that feeds them.
Oakland Names Independent Investigator Into Use Of Police Force With Occupiers Oakland leaders tapped a former Baltimore police commissioner Wednesday to head the investigation into the Police Department's handling of the Occupy protests. Thomas Frazier, who was Baltimore's top cop from 1994 to 1999 and before that a deputy chief in San Jose, said he hoped to issue his first report within 90 days. Oakland will spend up to $100,000 for the initial report, which will cover only the police response during the protests stemming from the first police eviction of the Occupy encampment Oct. 25. The city, which plans to contract with Frazier to also look into police handling of the general strike protests in November, decided to separate the investigations because they involved different circumstances and different mutual aid partners, City Administrator Deanna Santana said. All of the reports will be made public and presented to the City Council.[/quote] http://www.mercurynews.com/breaking-news/ci_19597632

I live not too far from Frank Ogawa Plaza, I didn't get much involved in the movement but all the same took a lot of interest in it. Is anything still there like the effigy and those couple of little camps? I could walk there now, but am just curious. Oakland had one of the larger occupy setups I gather. I also was there that day that dipshit shot his gun in the crowd. I got the feeling the movement started off speaking out against the world's upper 1%/world bank reserves, as time went on it seemed to get scattered and encompass more and more. How right is that assertion?
I'm really not sure what is left of the camp. Maybe you could find out on their page http://occupyoakland.org/
Thanks, I know that Berkeley's went bye-bye about a month ago while Oaktown stood strong a good deal longer.
It seems opportune for Anonymous to coordinate with Occupy and bring it underground, especially if it's going to have lasting impact. Imagine if it were to go that route, then coordinated gatherings could be launched like flash mobs.

It's all over Facebook that Occ. Oakland has "taken over" City Hall, and I can't find any more information on the subject. Anyone know anything???
There seems to be a stand-off being reported at City Hall in Oakland... http://www.livestream.com/occupyoakland
