Well, if he is simply collecting them for the viewing purposes, then I see nothing wrong with it. I myself used to collect air guns when I was a kid. Ended up owning about 15 of them at one time, some of them gas guns. I also had a few knives too, and I still own a few wooden swords, a pair of tonfas, and some pairs of nunchakus. People collect things for their viewing pleasure all the time. And weapons can also be used safely as well, for recreational purposes. That said, I DO believe the States should do something about the slack gun control policy. Proper licencing of firearm owners, making only specific types of guns available to public(for the purpose of recreational shooting), and isolating recreational shooters in specific, appropriate areas, seem to help. As far as I recall, Canada does this. But anyway, I digress... Well, if he keeps his guns UNloaded at all times and doesn't do any shooting at all, then I don't see any harm in it. Let him treasure his collection. BUT, he also needs to understand your phobia of guns as well. Keyword: COMMUNICATION.
I think as long as he is fine with keeping them locked away when you are together, and doesn post about them constantly on the forum, or keep on under his pillow or in view in his house (knowing you don't like them), hten I think it is fine. As long as he doesn't have any vviolent impulses, I wouldn't worry about it. Hope that helps, and good luck.
Well, you know, I live in Texas, where everybody has a gun. I mean, even dogs and cats have got them. I have one that I keep in my home purely for self defense if someone breaks in and wants to hurt me or people close to me. I've never used it, and probably never will (hopefully won't have to). At heart and by nature, I am a very non-violent person. I think the real question is, what is his attitude toward the guns, and toward violence? Does he talk a lot about shooting people, about using the guns? I think that's the real issue, what his attitude is, how he looks at life, rather than just the fact that he owns them. I've known some real violent people that didn't own guns, and some real non-violent people that did.
