Are you kidding me. Your gonna honestly say that he doesn't elaborate? That's your excuse as to why he's so bad? Bush flipped the country upside down. You tell me how he got things so bad when he inherited the country from Clinton who had things running fine. Obama has not done anything to worsen the USA. He says change because that's exactly what we need. You don't like Obama because you simply don't like him. Don't make up b.s excuses that "he doesn't elaborate". He's the fucking president dude i'm pretty sure all presidents must elaborate. President's can't be vague.
Let's see... you couldn't refute what I said but made a snarky comment. Way to maintain your personal status quo.
well, that's what you get for trying to insult me... telling me you're going the educate the ignorant. After that comment - I wasn't going to take some wise ass seriously.
Nevermind sorry bro I got things twisted. I'm stoned an wasn't really paying attention. Sorry about that :cheers2:
I feel a lot of compassion for the people who absolutely hate Obama and are scared that he's a lying evil anti-Christ. I don't know what to do to help them feel better than to discuss how they feel with them. I have a few on the in-law side of the family that are full of hate and fear because of the propaganda they hear. I don't argue with them or call them idiots...I just try to get to the bottom of why they feel that way. It's useful for me, even if it doesn't help them at all, and it keeps the tension lower. I do think that Obama is spending too much time trying to appease these people though. I think he is watering down a lot of what he could do to try to seem like he's not too liberal. He should be pushing for a better healthcare with at least a public option, and he shouldn't be afraid to say he doesn't care if it makes for profit health insurance companies go out of business if they can't compete. If government run health insurance will be such a joke the for profits have nothing to worry about. I don't believe that everything the government does is evil. Fundamentally it is an institution to help groups of people do things together which they can not do as individuals. I see a lot of waste, stupidity, nepotism, corruption in business too, and if we turn everything over to business leaders we will have no protection. I also feel like he gave way to much money to the banks when trying to right the economy. He could have spent a lot of that money on infrastructure improvements which would have put more money into regular middle class workers who would stimulate the economy as they were able to spend. We would have better roads, public transportation, hospitals, and schools to show for it. It's a bad precedent to bail out a lot of financial institutions because it makes them thing they can be too risky in the future and that people should invest in the riskiest financial institutions because even if they go down...it won't matter because the government will bail them out. I do think his handling of the decision in Afghanistan is commendable. He is doing it the right way. (Even ultra conservative George Will supports his "dithering" and criticized Cheney and others for complaining.) He should spend a little time deciding to send kids to be killed and maimed physically and psychologically, and he should force the military to provide options rather than simply request more troops.
If you are serious? - I never heard anyone say they believe Obama is the Anti-Christ. I'm sure there are a few whackos who do believe that, but who's paying attention to them. You should however, have compassion for the people (Democrat or Republican or neither) who wanted ''change'' and got fooled by Obama's slick speeches and voted for him. ''propaganda'' to you is anything you don't agree with. And hate who? who do they hate? And as far as fear goes? If you're not afraid (politically) nowadays - you're in a coma. So, are you afraid?
I'm not trying to argue about things. I'm not a big fan of politics and don't really look into them. just saying how I see things.
I don't like Obama's taxes on the upper middle class. His new taxes do not affect the rich as much as they do the upper middle class. People making $150,000 - $400,000 are getting really screwed but if you are making $700,000 or more you are not as affected. People making $10 million or more a year are not affected in any significant way by the tax increase. Also - Obama's foreign policy is not different than Bush's..just his style is different. Obama is telling the world that America will be different...but we still have a huge army in the middle east. Obama had to promise to leave Iraq to become President, but didn't he say 16 months? I doubt we will be out of Iraq until 6 months before the 2012 election. Obama's choice for the supreme court is not going to agree that we have the freedom to smoke weed. I like that Obama actually is a leader...Bush was a follower that somehow became President. For the person who made the foolish statement about people looking back on Bush and seeing him as good president, let me clue you in. Under Bush's 'leadership' America invaded a sovereign nation, and then occupied it and set up a new government. We did not go through the United Nations..and our coalition was basically our empire. Now what moral ground do we stand on when we want to tell Russia not to invade the former Soviet satellite nations? Could not Russia claim that Ukraine has WMD and pose an immediate threat? Bush is a fucking idiot, and his advisers were all imperialist assholes. We know China wants to annex Taiwan..what is to stop them from saying Taiwanese terrorist are threatening them? Bush was a terrible President. Obama so far has laughed when people suggested legalizing weed, he has bailed out the US automakers who did not deserve a bailout. He bailed out Goldman Sachs...he might not have become President without the support of Goldman Sachs so he owed them.. ...he has spent a ton of money and none of economists really know what they're doing. Maybe Obama's bailout will work, and maybe he will turn around the US automakers too. We'll see.
Yeah Jimmy was pretty good in my book to. Almost legalized marijuana even though he is a Christian, He didn't think the punishment should be more damaging than the crime. Only problem with Carter was he was/is to honest and had/has too high of personal integrity to have lasted as president. ever since then they have all sucked and only pushed thier personal agenda's.
Check this out: http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/...thers-and-the-anti-christ----oh-my.php?ref=mp It's pretty scary huh? Things that aren't true just used to scare people into going against a political idea. Like that somehow any change in health care will create death squads that will decide if Sarah Palin is allowed to give birth to a child with downs syndrome. Or that Stephen Hawking would not be alive if he lived in Britain (which he does.) (You can google these things if you think only a few crazy people believe them, or that I'm making them up or something.) Obama, Ted Kennedy, Clintons, Pelosi....they don't just hate their political views, they hate them very deeply. Just like many people hate Bush and Cheney rather than their views. It's really sad. Like I said, I don't believe everything the government does is evil or incompetent. I think we can have a great government that does a lot of things for individuals as well as protecting businesses. The fear and hatred scares me, and it's much more apparent to me that it was when it was directed towards Bush and Cheney, although it was probably just as bad then. What is your biggest fear about Obama? What do you think his motives are? Do you think he's just incompetent or somehow trying to pull one over on everyone? I was just talking to a friend who travels a lot, and she said something that was really telling. She said she can actually tell people she is from the US now and not feel like an idiot. She can actually feel okay about saying it again. I think that's really as important thing that changed.
I agree for a while there to go to abroad and say your American was just embarassing, not to mention people giving you the cold shoulder because bush was such a loser, he was giving all of us a bad name
You can find anything you want on the internet. Especially, from left wing liberal web sites. Well, Democrats HATE every Republican, and not just Bush and Cheney. So don't point fingers. Democrats are probably worse. See, things you don't think is true. To others it is true. And as far as pushing fear? That's all Democrats say about Republicans. When people point out danger - they're pushing fear. And that's weak. The American public sees past that Democratic tactic. And as far as the death squad goes. It's not too far off the mark. You want the government to decide whether an operation is needed for one of your loved ones?. Not me. Democrats and Republicans can't even run this country, and you want them to run Health Care? Say what you want. But once the government runs health care. You and millions of others will be sorry. WITH NO TURNING BACK. Yep - pretty much. I'll make it short and sweet. I don't trust Obama. Or the people he surrounds himself with. I could say a lot more, but as the days go by, Obama is being exposed more and more everyday as incompetent. And more importantly a danger to our future. And that's no scare tactic. Now enough of Obama... You want to hear something real scary? No one - Republican or Democrat thrills me to be the next President of The United States, once Obama is out. I don't want to be all doom and gloom, but the political landscape of this country scares me. See, this is where you and me differ. I never felt like an idiot saying I was an American. I do care what other countries think of us. BUT...I'm not going to let Europeans (who live in fear of terrorism) tell me how things should be in the U.S. I don't want the United States to be like Europe or any other country in this world. The United States is still the greatest country in the world. And still the greatest place to live - with no apologies to anyone.
Well....I'm not sure if you have dealt with insurance companies....but they are a for-profit bureaucracy that decides what they will pay for. They often don't make it clear if they will pay for something, and then often try to reject claims initially which they are eventually forced to pay after you argue with them. That's one of the weirdest things about the fight against any health care change....who actually feels like they have good coverage now from for-profit insurance companies? I guess if you never had to deal with them yourselves it'd be hard to understand....but there's a lot of adults who have dealt with them...and still seem to want to defend them under any circumstance. I really don't get that. I guess that you don't believe the poll results. I can't argue with that. I don't know if you think the poll was inaccurate, or completely fake or something...but if you choose not to believe it, I guess there's no way to argue what reality is. I agree that Democrats hate a lot of Republicans...I thought I made that clear. I think it's sad either way. It is much more obvious now to me because it seems so crazy, but that's just because of my perspective. (Sorry if you feel like I'm pointing fingers.) I guess it's good to be proud of America no matter what it represents or what anyone else thinks (in your case, especially Europeans.) Is there anything that could happen that would make you not be proud? I feel like I'm really just riling you up....so I guess I should stop now. I really am trying to figure out why some people are so scared of Obama or anything run by the current government. When Bush was president I really couldn't figure out if he was just incompetent or really kind of evil and lying all the time.....it seems like you feel Obama is more incompetent than evil...which I think is a healthy way to look at it.
I'd rather keep the insurance I have through my employer. Once the government has it's own health care, employers will drop their health care, and tell you to use the government health care. And I don't want that to happen. I want to keep government out of my life and especially my health care and medical desicions. I don't want Obama's health care plan. I could go on in detail why - but to be honest, I don't want to debate this until Thanksgiving. And I doubt we'll see eye to eye anyway. I guess? but so far no. Every country makes mistakes. No country is perfect. And I'm glad I live in freedom in the United States of America. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. How about you? And I said in my earlier post, ''I do care what other countries think of us.'' But I'm not willing to turn our country in Europe. Or change our policies because Europeans don't like us. But European countries will be the first to cry to the United States when they are attacked or need help. Incompetent - yes. Dangerous - yes. I don't believe he is the anti-christ in the flesh, but damn close.
