Since the Jews, the Christians AND the Muslims all share parts of the same Bible, and since the "deed" is recorded there, for ALL THREE RELIGIONS to see (and, btw, we all believe that deed) then whatever you, as a non-religious person, chooses to think, doesn't really matter, i'm afraid. Oh. And i don't think the Bible really gets into International Affairs, for the most part, but i'm way tired right now, so i may not be thinking of everything written in it.
Xexon, you have never appeared coarse, to me. In fact, you are one of the few folks that is here because you have valid concerns, rather than just boo-hoo-ing because the poor, persecuted Palestinian ATTACKERS of Israel are reaping the consequences of their actions. Although you've been accused of it many times, i haven't really noticed anything in your posts to make me think you are antisemetic. Yes, our Bible speaks of peace and agape love; but it also speaks of war, and evil, and how we should react to THEM.
I thank you. We are on the verge of another great upheaval in history. The one's who have something invested in the status quo are the last to leave the ship. Making Obama captain doesn't repair the steering linkage. x
I am still quite skeptical about the justification of israels claims over "their land" it doesn't make much sense to me that they should be allowed to massacre civilians. And dismissing my concerns over the fact that I am non-religious, and that what I think "doesn't really matter" isn't quite valid. Why is it that your ideas and thoughts should have any more credance than mine, simply because you choose to have devotion an a religion?
Oh, wow ~ No! It isn't that what YOU think doesn't matter, it's that without the base of a belief system that IS "you," you really aren't going to understand. The Muslims aren't going to listen to us ~ we're infidels. The Jews aren't going to listen to us ~ we aren't God. We, in our humanly trying, can't really do much about anything, truth be told. You know, you can TRY to thwart God's plan for His people, but you aren't going to be able to stand against God, and His will SHALL be done. Regarding the claims to the land: The deed is written in our Holy Books. We know the boundaries. We know that God told the Jews to clear that land for just them to live on. We know why He instructed them in this way, to keep them pure for Himself. You wouldn't fault a scientist for trying to keep his studies free from contamination. Why don't you understand that that same principle holds true in this situation? If EVERYONE REALLY wanted peace, it's there to be had. Once again, Israel is listening to the world (the yeast), and they are willing to extend a truce to people who are SWORN, to not only kill them, individually, but to ANNILIATE them, as a nation. And THAT still isn't enough. You know, even as pacificist as i am, i could definitely see Israel saying "Pump Off!" to the world at large, and just taking care of the business at hand, and i wouldn't raise a hand against them, EVER. If they decide to go on some kind of killing spree, and i get mowed down in the crossfire, well, my God will take care of me. It IS their land. Muslims agree that God gave it to Israel. Jews agree that God gave it to Israel. Christians agree that God gave it to Israel. We have the deed, and can look it over, and all of us AGREE that it is VALID. For ANY Muslims to think they can, at this late date, overthrow that deed is ludicrous. i don't presume to know what God is thinking, nor what He might be saying to Israel, but He never changes, and He's already called for them to clear that land of, for lack of a better word, contaminents. That they were soft-hearted about it is something i completely understand. Do you really think that Jewish people sit around, trying to dream up ways to murder other people? Cripes, THEY've been persecuted, and to think that they would do that to anyone else ~ well, you're falling into the Abuse Breeds Abuse mindset. Israel doesn't want to wipe anyone off the face of the earth, even though they've been through exactly that situation. God has given Israel strength ~ strength to get over the unfairness of it all; strength to complete the instructions He gave them; strength to overcome WHATEVER is put in their way. Yes, God uses us. The leaders who are in power are ONLY there because God allows it. The laws that are written are only on the books because God allows it. YOU live in this time, because that's God's will. i'll tell you this for free ~ it doesn't matter what ANY of us "thinks" ~ only God has the power to make anything happen. If you truly want to change what's happening, i'd suggest that you learn how to pray to God to change the situation.
Wow, such resignation. I particularly like the quote, "the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing. I don't wish to debate belief with you, but you seem to be under the impression that the bible is infallible, and it is the written word of God almighty. That's fine and all, but the reason that I personally take issue with this reasoning is that the bible is the work of MAN. It was transcribed, translated, and abridged by MAN, and since we are all human, there is always room for error and corruption to be slipped in. I'm sure you are aware of the council of nicea? You honestly think the bible could have remAined in its purest form throughout its 1800 years of existance? Then why isn't the book of Enoch still included in the bible? That is the word of god too, is it not. I am a bit incredulous, because as I understand it, the land of Israel was not sippised to be given to the Israelites until AFTER the second coming of Christ, which is in itself ridiculous, along with the end times programming which is being shoved down every fundamentalist Christian's throat. People see suffering and corruption and catastrophes in the world, and sit idly by, saying to themselves, "oh, it is the will of God, who am I to stand against him, if I just endure through these injustices, then surely I will find my place in Heaven." I do agree with you that God resides in each and every one of us, but I do think that it is quite dangerous to identify so closely with religious dogma that you feel you have to protect it as you would your own life. You don't have to go to church to know the One Love, and you don't have to resign your life to a ridiculous religion to be "saved."
God takes on so many forms these days... just sit down and meditate on the notion that Israel is exclusive more so than the rest of Earth. if you don't get your answer, try again. Fyrenza, you are way too smart to get caught up in all of that mess.
While i'm glad you think i'm intelligent, i would never let that bring me back to what i was. It isn't a pack of lies. It isn't even something that anyone could influence, for YOU, personally. When you pick up a Bible, and open your eyes to the words, and your mind to the intent, you start seeing what really IS the truth. i mean, you can go into it TOTALLY unbelieving, and if you'll ask God, in a little prayer, to just open your eyes, He is committed, by His own Word, to not only hear you, but to answer you. It's sort of funny that y'all said that about being smart, because i found that more knowledgeable i became, the more it was IMPOSSIBLE for me to believe that everything in our universe was just a coincidence ~ i read Tarot, studied for years, and you know what i finally realized? If i can see the future (and i could) by using these flippin' CARDS, then SOMEone already knew what the future held. It had to already be there for me to be able to see it, you know? Oh, i wracked my brain over it, believe me. i came to the conclussion that there IS a supreme being, He IS that God dude that everyone talked about, and He knows EXACTLY what's going to happen ~ to all of us. i've worked in science. i've beheld (sorry, there's no better word) the beauty of the PATTERN of everything. An aside, but this really stuck with me: WE see God's plan from underneath, much like being on the wrong side of a tapestry. The threads go everywhere. They don't make a concise pattern that you could tell what the actual "picture" is. It just looks like a mess. But from the top, from where the dude is actually MAKING the pattern? It all makes perfect sense. And that's what we see ~ the bottom of the tapestry. It doesn't make sense. It isn't a pattern that we can understand. ALL we can do is put our trust in the Creator of the tapestry ~ that He knows what He's making, and that it will be BEAUTIFUL when He's done.
Hmm, I really like that tapestry analogy. I also agre with you that everything happens for a reason, and it is part of the Creators plan. I think of this world and life as a learning experience, teaching me to love in greater and deeper ways.
Rest assured that i would NEVER "resign" myself to ANYTHING. i believe in God. i believe that He is omnipotent. i believe that an omnipotent being can make whatever they want to be real, REAL. If God is God, then He made the Bible say what it says. If He isn't, then it was just man. But ask yourself this ~ where did man come up with these "values?" (You know, right, wrong, fair, etc.) A man just started thinking, one day, and decided that This is Right and That is Wrong? Men aren't like that. We're in it for US ~ OUR needs, OUR wants, OUR wishes. And we don't really care who we run over in the process ~ look at the U.S. government. We are selfish and egoistical (as opposed to egoTistical). We are only able to know ourselves, and from the time we are born, we want what we want. It isn't in us to actually care about anything other than ourselves, since to each of us, we are our god. The ONLY thing that has kept man from being another animal is God. He formed us in His image, and He gave us consciousness, so that we could be like Him (able to make choices, to think). And all He wants in return is for us to rejoice in His creation, give thanks to the Creator, rather than the creation, to understand that He forgives us for our wrong choices, and for us to CHOOSE Him (good) over evil. ps According to me (and a multitude of others), the Bible IS infallible.
But, just because you say so, does not make it true. The bible has been tampered with, in my opini, and good and evil are a mettee of perspective. The universe expays in shades of grey, not this black and white image that you insist upon. One question, do you believe that we MUSTsuffer through the end times tribulations, as stated in Revalations, and that there is nothing we can do to avert the disasters, and that it is a requirement which must be fulfilled before the second coming of Christ, where-upon he will ruler a kingdom of heaven upon earth from his throne in Jerusalem?
Who cares? I know that, thats why I keep drinkin my liqour and smokin my bud and keepin my pistol to my hip.
Oh, and the United States of America has been infiltrated on almost every level by Satanism. And Satanists only abide by one law... Do as thou wilt.
And THERE, you have it! We get hurt because of wrong choices, and sometimes they aren't even OUR choices, but He IS faithful: to love us, and to teach us through them. i said something in another post about Clive Barker's "Books of Blood." No one answered, but our lives, our selves, are just books written in blood ~ our own blood. Most of us aren't Einstein's. We're folks trying to make sense out of the senseless, trying to remain sane in the midst of insanity. Our lives probably won't touch a lot of others, and won't make some big difference in the Big Scheme of Things. We live and die, much like ants; but God makes sure we CAN enjoy His creation, and makes sure that we know that He loves us ~ it's in every beautiful thing we could ever see, feel, think, smoke , etc. ps Yeah, the tapestry was THE explaination, for me.
Oh, yeah! i went through that, too. The supposed discrepancies of the Bible; trying to intermesh "Thou shalt not kill" with righteous anger that destroys (and kills) evil; so on and so forth. Do you believe that there IS a God? Do you believe that God is omnipotent? Then, how could His written word, the Bible, be in error? (That's one of those "heart of hearts" things ~ you'll know the truth as you get into it.) Right. It isn't. It says what He wants it to say. The beauty of it is that it also says whatever He wants it to say to YOU. i don't really understand it all, but it seems like He wants a PERSONAL relationship with just YOU, not with US, because the rest of us are going to scatter our little crumbs of yeast though YOUR thoughts. i spent some long, lonely days with a patient who had Alzheimer's. Up to the time she blurted out, in CHURCH mind you, that she was ready to go, DURING the service, i was able to do women's Bible studies, Son-day school, and go to church. When that happened, i realized that i was doing her NO service by dragging her to church, and i began to study on my own. During those days, i prayed like a Mo-Fo-Lo (Mother Fucker) for some Christian fellowship. At the time, i belonged to two churches ~ a Baptist church and the Church of Christ. i called their offices, asking for home visits, and i explained that i was a new Christian, trying to understand. Days went by. Weeks went by. Finally, i heard Him tell me that i really didn't need someONE else to intrepret His word for me ~ i needed HIM, His Spirit in me, to intrepret His word for me. When y'all say you don't believe in church? i get it. When y'all say that church people are hypocritical? i get it. i smoke cigs. Big no-no. i smoke dope. BigGER no-no. i drink. i just told a lie the other day, to, of all people, my FATHER. Yeah. i'm not much into "church" either. BUT He even made a provision for THAT ~ Whenever two or more of you are gathered in my Name. You don't HAVE to go to church. When you first come to Christ, you feel ALL of the guilt of all of your sins, and when you realize that He gave up His SON, to be the perfect sacrifice for those sins, you'll fall down and cry your eyeballs out, in sorrow for what YOU have done, did, and WILL do to Him as He hangs there on that cross. Sometimes, folks in church, although they're trying their best to explain, put us off. We think they're living blameless lives, because we look at them, and they're GOOD people. "Good" folks don't have to do with the likes of US, usually, do they? And so we're put off. But i'll tell you something. If you really want to know Him, He won't withhold Himself from you, regardless of what you're doing that is sinful. He'll come to live in you, and He will change you. You'll still commit sins; however, if you truly repent by acknowledging the burden you've placed on Jesus, He's QUICK to forgive you. And if you ask His forgiveness, He doesn't care if you're a dumbass and do the SAME thing a MILLION times! He will STILL forgive you because He loves you. In some ways, i'm glad i didn't recognize Him until later in my life, when i was more mature and knowledgable about the world; in other ways, cripes! i sure could have used His help to get through some of the horrendous things that have happened to me. But it all happened in His time, according to His plan for me. Oh. And what y'all might take for resignation? That's me resting in the Lord, knowing that He can handle it all. i resigned nothing. i'm still me. i'm just truly free, now.
Science and the compassionate part of us WANTS to see shades of grey. There are no greys in the realm of black and white. i'm sorry, but we live in His world, and it is composed of 0's and 1's ~ either or. WE want to make the excuses, but it would be better for us to die of starvation than to STEAL, even if it's for our children. We've been so anestheticized to evil that we don't even recognize it. Why would we steal? Why wouldn't we ASK for what we need? Because we can rationalize stealing better than we can begging, which is polite stealing. Truth is, i don't insist upon anything. You don't have to read what i write. You don't have to believe what i say. But there is a definite demarkation between black and white, and God will not abide ANY combinations that WE, as humans, want to make with those colors. He is white. Evil is black. They exist, side by side, but sooner or later, you're going to have to make a decision about which color YOU are.
