your comma doesn't make it grammatically clear, but no one will force you to take a position you didn't intend to take. Trying to put words in your mouth would be very republican of me.
Check out this link. Regardless of whether fictitious names were used on voter registration forms, it would be difficult for fictitious people to cast their votes at the polls, given that they would need valid IDs to get in. Contrast that with the Republican tactic of using technicalities to turn away legitimate voters at the polls based on demographics, or making it so inconvenient and time consuming to cast their votes that folks in lower income communities give up. ACORN is merely another smear tactic of the McCain campaign aimed at bringing into question the validity of the outcome of the election, because they know they're gonna lose. Pretty pathetic that they have that little integrity.
that's the core of this issue: it is merely an attempt to reduce the number of legitimate voters for Obama. No one is actually contending that Acorn's fictitious registrations could result in a significant number of fraudulent votes.
I would like to see all of those residents of New Jersey and Connecitcut who commute to New York to work each day register and vote in New York then. If we are gooing to poo-pooh the rules then let the tax-paying commuters vote in New York Elections. Call it taxation without representation. Let commuters vote also. Might make New York Goverment more responsible.
you lost me there piney. I don't commute, could you explain? just left NYC in august, so I will have to pay crazy ass city taxes for 2008....
Have you not checked out all the Fraud cases that members of ACORN have been adjudged with? Have you read the stuff about how ACORN was a shell corp?? Seen any of the stuff linking Obama's generous 'gift' with this FRADULENT (AT THE TIME HE GAVE THE MONEY, they were being indicted, right and left) PHONY SHELL CORP??? You people are absolutely amazing ~ in the most horrible sort of way...
There's certainly enough of that going on these days... your example of taxation without representation; my feelings about hidden taxes; other people's thoughts on our present system. It will have to change.
i think this has been said before, but it bears repeating: How does it 'attempt to reduce the number of legitimate voters for Obama' UNLESS THE 'WORKERS' WERE CAMPAIGNING FOR HIM???
It's called vote caging. It's been used by the Republicans before, it will be used during this campaign, with the false justification that the ACORN issue makes it necessary.
I dunno about that, my take on it is that the McCain campaign is doing exactly that, insinuating that ACORN is responsible for fraudulent votes, and that by his association with ACORN, Obama is also responsible. Par for the course for the "Hate Talk Express." The scary thing is that folks are buying it. If you watch the video, you'll see that McCain at one time actually endorsed ACORN. I guess it comes down to what part of the issue you want to dwell on. If you want to focus on questioning Obama's integrity, based on his association with ACORN, or ACORN's existence as a corporation, that's one thing, but if you want to focus on ACORN's role in fraudulent voting practices, as the McCain campaign seems to be doing, that's another.
they are insinuating, but not claiming. That's because there is no evidence to back up the claim. They are very careful about that.
Fear is the only thing the McCain/Palin ticket can spread. And they are not even held to the least of standards for proving their claims. They have no platform.
What are you talking about? I think what you are trying to say is that ACORN is opening the door to voter fraud, by largely contributing to the problem of voter registration fraud. Can't have one without the other.
I don't get the statement either, but yours is easy to pick apart. Opening the door only counts if someone is trying to get in. Enough of this smokescreen. It hasn't worked. The election probably won't even be close. Shouldn't you be preparing to argue against all the new ACTUAL policies that will be enacted in the next 4 years? Oh, did anyone see the bit on community organizing on last night's daily show? I just watched it on Hulu.
If I work in New York City, but live in New Jersey, I have to file tax returns in New York because I earn income in that location. So as a New Jersey resident, I file four tax returns: Federal; State of New Jersey; State of New York; City of New York. The Princess does not work in New York, yet her income is taxable because we file as a family. So why don't cast a vote in New York. I work there, I pay taxes there. I'm practially a citizen of that location? Welll, because I do not live there and the rules say I can not vote there. But if I am tuning in to these nhilistic blogs and websites that are cheering on the registration of whomever and whatever, then why shouldn't I take the plunge? Register to vote in New York. Use the address of my employer. Certainly I have as large a stake in the Community as some of these new registrants. Why shouldn't I vote where I workl and pay taxes. I promise to only vote the local lines and wont cast a double vote for President. Is this OK?
Find an ACORN worker and register in both states. They will give you 10 cigarettes and a "free small fry" Monopoly gamepiece to do so.
ROFLMAO!!! But, hey! It's worth a try, Piney! Just for us, here in the forum? Could you please use ACORN to register, and happen to mention to them, at BOTH places, that you intend to register at the other one, also? i'd be interested to hear what their response would be...
hey piney, that's nothing. If you work in more than one country you pay even more taxes. But are you sure your NYC tax isn't deductible from you NJ tax? If not, that's jersey screwing you, not NYC.
