There is no "democratic plan" to sway the election by having individual people vote multiple times.

The "plan" is to simply get more likely democratic voters to the polls, and ACORN is doing a half-assed job of it. If you think Obama is rubbing his hands and giggling gleefully "all is going as planned", think again.

^^That article really shows what the problem is. There's really not any significant voter fraud. The fear of voter fraud is used as an excuse to make it harder for people to register in general, and especially hard for the poor and elderly. The more states that require voter IDs and the harder it is to get them, the better off the GOP is.

As far as I've read, none of the funny names on ACORNs registration lists were used to cast votes. Somehow some bogus registrations may have made it through, but I don't think people were actually going to vote with them. At this point, it'd be a great move by GOP operatives to go to GOTV campaigns run by democrats and put in funny, phony names.

Here's someone who worked for a similar Republican group who did intentionally commit voter fraud and was probably doing to cast invalid votes: http://www.reuters.com/article/domesticNews/idUSTRE49K0A120081021

I also remember a Republican voter registration group getting in similar trouble in 2004 for throwing out registrations for people who registered as Democrats. http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/10/14/nevada.registration/ I don't remember this getting a whole lot of press. I certainly don't remember it being John Kerry's primary issues in his campaign against Bush....I guess he wasn't that desparate.

So...it seems like there were some issues at ACORN with quality control of registrations, but no proof of any malicious acts, but on the Republican side, people are really trying to vote illegally and prevent Democrats from registering.

I think the fact that the McCain campaign latched onto this issue and keeps pressing it is an indication of desperation, lack of ideas, and, worst of all, an attempt to push more stringent rules for registration which will disenfranchise voters.

McCain was singing ACORN's praises just a few years ago. The whole ACORN thing is just a WMD (weapon of Mass Distraction) meant to distract the public's attention from the fact that the Neo cons are stealing the election Jim Crow is alive and well! He changed his name to Karl Rove!

I think the people that are making excuses for ACORN need to realize that Voter Registration Fraud opens the door to Voter Fraud. There are states that do not require photo ID that could be susceptible to Voter Fraud. These people also need to realize that organizations such as ACORN are giving Republicans an excuse to try and purge questionable voters, and paving the road to require more forms of ID to prove identity.

Corruption is corruption. Everybody needs to work together to stop it.

    Please. Stop being disingenuous.

You could care less about being fair and making sure every eligible voter has their say. You've already admitted to your social darwinism.

    Don't buy this bullshit folks.

Did Obama learn equality from 20 years of Revered Wrights sermons? :)

I'm not going to lie and say that I care if some crackhead who probably couldn't name the four candidates votes or not. I'm not trying to bullshit anybody. That crackhead has as much right to vote as the Wall Street CEO, and I would never say otherwise. The fraud and corruption that is occuring by both sides is not in the best interest of the people. I don't think Diebold should hold a contract supplying voting machines any less than I think ACORN should receive taxpayer dollars to commit fraud.

Also, I think that McCain should condemn the man that registered himself twice. Obama should also condemn the activities of ACORN, stop advocating for them, and stop giving them money. By supporting these corrupt organizations, you support their actions.

Guess what? ACORN has worked and so has Reverend Wright. The allegations against Obama have caught the attention of a substantial amount of people. From what I have seen around the web, some people no longer support Obama, others question his character but don't like McCain, and the rest would vote for Obama regardless of anything he has ever done. Reverend Wright was a big issue during the primaries, but has lost its steam since then. I don't think any of this is going to have an affect in the 08' elections however. I think standards are so low and McCain chances are even lower that Obama will no question take the Presidency. I do think that there are election issues that need to be addressed, and I do think that Obama's history is relevant.

Whoever does win, I hope that there is no recount or any other bullshit. It is not very promising however with the amount of lawyers that have flocked to swing states, the allegations of voter fraud, voter purging, etc...

i started out Gung Ho for Obama, but it didn't take too long to see through him. Y'all probably won't have any idea of what this phrase means ~ 'passing' ~ but it stood for a lot more than just 'passing for white.'

Obama has been 'passing': he isn't brilliant ~ he just used his extra points from AA to pad his SAT, gualifying him for MENSA, on a NON-Mensa basis; he isn't going to 'change' anything, unless he changes the entire US into Chicago, because THAT's where his political experience is from; and that little 'acorn' didn't fall far from it's tree ~ which was one of radical philosophies.

i'm sort of looking for Hilary to make a miraculous comeback, at this point.

And, Wacky? Yeah, another election 'day' that takes MONTHS to figure out... Well, the next several weeks aren't going to be boring, are they?

You know what? If you have to HUNT to pick out every littlest, nit-picky thing to argue with, folks start getting the idea that you don't really have anything SUBSTANTIAL to back yourself up with...
