Unless I'm missing something here nobody seems to have pointed out that many folks who are prone to siesures rely on a pet who can sense one coming on and warn the owner in time for them to sit or lie down before falling and injuring themselves.
This is why I'm hoping the original owner gets to keep Star, but I doubt he will. They will probably adopt her out and the original owner will be on his own.
Why would they put the dog up for adoption who already has an owner? Because he's homeless? Or would they say he isn't a responsible dog owner because it's his fault the dog went after the cops? Which is bullshit. Dogs are going to protect owners that love them. I would hope that anyone who adopts Star would give him/her back to the owner.
Either one of these would be reason enough to adopt Star out to a "responsible dog owner" instead of being back where she belongs, with her rightful owner... BTW... Do we know what the owners name is? I just hate speaking of him as "the rightful owner" etc. I would rather use his name.
Lech Stankiewicz. The article said he did not come in to claim the dog. I wonder if he was able to. Sad. http://gothamist.com/2012/08/25/photos_star_the_dog_shot_by_a_cop_i.php
I also think it's so sad the guy suffers from the seizures because he can't afford the epilepsy medication. I consider myself so lucky to not live with the US healthcare system.
