Are there any nude (or topless at least) beaches on Long Island/Hamptons? Probably going there in July or August & was wondering if I could sunbathe nude or topless!
I see your message on the thread about sex on the beach. Well, one of the latest beaches closed to nudity was one of the best--Lighthouse Beach on Long Island, and the claimed excuse was that the place was being abused. Now you haven't got much to choose from on Long Island; remote spots on Fire Island maybe, but you can never be totally sure you won't get into trouble. If you have local friends, maybe they have some ideas about places where "you just have to know". Women being topless is legal in New York (though not all police officers respect it) but it's pretty rare. Some of the people who used to go to Lighthouse Beach have said they should go blatantly topless and wearing tiny thongs, so as to try and generate complaints which will make the managers allow nudity again, and then if the nude section reopens, it would be a posted area that people could avoid, but I can't see that idea going anywhere. So far, Gunnison Beach in New Jersey seems to be secure, but who knows what's ahead.
Gunnison beach in Jersey would be my choice - I try to get there as often as possible. It is part of the Gateway Recreation Area of the National Park Service. I am pretty sure there is ferry service to Manhattan during the summer. Don't know how difficult it would be for you to get to Manhattan from Long Island. With new york being topless now, it would be easier for them to spearhead the nude beach. I see more women walking around topless now in ny. Tourist would actually would visit there to walk around topless.
Yeah....we went to Times Square & were quite amazed to find two girls wearing only thongs & a lot of body paint wandering around at 2 in the afternoon! They were attracting some attention, but not as much as I would have expected!
