Nuclear Science Helps Bangladeshi Farmers Resist Climate Change This comprehensive partnership connects BRIN with research institutes, government agencies, agricultural companies, farmers and other stakeholders in the region, to strengthen food and nutrition security, increase farmers’ incomes, promote sustainable farming practices and preserve natural resources.
This region of the world has more than had its serious battles with virtually every natural disaster from the earliest times. I know from reading that so many severe droughts in this part of the world have inflicted serious hardships on the people who live there, for hundreds of years. It is an area, that, without a doubt, is often (terrain-wise) brutal and harsh, to say the least. Yes, the inner resilience of the people who live in these areas has girded them well for generations of battle against the wrath of nature. If something......ANYTHING.....can be done, science/technology-wise, to benifit the people in this land, it needs to be done NOW......while there is still a chance to win this enormous battle..... The food chain is something else we ALL take for granted. Already global-warming issues have been making steady inroads to poor crops, lost crops, lackluster harvests, skyrocketing prices at our supermarkets and our greengrocers. It is bad enough that so much of what we consume is NOT 100% natural; this, I feel, will only continue to worsen in the coming years, as climate change gains yet an even stronger choke hold on our crops and other food sources...... ....imagine if nuclear science alleviate ALL world hunger, we would be, as a civilized world, be that much closer to the ever-elusive Utopia.............. "Live long and prosper"
