WE need global warming with some luck giants Hurricanes well kill millions and solve the over population problem.
yep thats whats probably going to happen, perhaps we're reaching some sort of critical point, we wouldn't know it, we wouldn't really have any previous models to realise that we are heading for some sort of collapse. dwindling resources could trigger some form of conflict/s. i suppose in some way you have opposing forces. on one hand you have economic forces that can only sustain themselves with expanding markets, increased consumption and population etc and on the other you have finite resources. whoever controls resources - controls and sustains there own economy and profits. no doubt the americans have long seen this event occuring. only a theory. in the meantime more species of animal will become extinct, the weather will continue to become more and more unpredictable. perhaps mass extinctions occur when a critical number of animals start dying, i suppose if all animals are co dependent we will trigger our own extinction by inadvertently knocking out a vital part of the food chain and when this happens the best economy is going to collapse but by this time no-ones going to be worrying about the economy. of course we don't need to go down this path but its too late the die is cast, when you let the idiot run the world stupid things happen. the nuclear question is just a manifestation of the same problem, in the end we won't have enough nuclear power either. statiscally there will have to be have to be another major nuclear accident and perhaps this is where our story on this planet ends, in the same way as the dinosaurs. maybe some day our remains will be found in the record of the rocks and someone else will be debating that its impossible that we ever existed because their religion says its impossible but we'll know different won't we.
Going back a bit, I appreciate there are lots of ways to spearte hydrogen and oxygen including using microbes but they all use more than you get. In an oil fired power station you supply a bit of heat and then the reaction generates enough energy to keep the reaction going, same with nuclear fission and fusion (althoug we're only just at that point for fusion). If you stop putting energy into any of the hydrogen manufactueing processes then it stops. Im nt against the technology im just making the point its more like a battery than a power station.
exactly while nuclear power dosent polute the air, the radioactive waste will stick around for a long time, and finding places to put it is becoming an ever increasig problem. However, this only applies to nuclear Fisson. what we really need is nuclear Fusion is what happens in stars. It doen't give off any waste, so it would be ideal. unfortunaly, it hasent been invented yet. but they are working on it.
Fusion does give leave some low level radioactive waste, theres a lot of high energy neutrons floating around in fusion as well as fission but its true that there is nothing like as much as with fission and its a much lower activity. However as ive already said there are techniques to shorten time taken for radioactive waste to decay completely, I imagine that over the coming years these will be perfected, I dont see waste being a very long term problem, <100 years I imagine.
Ethanol. Byproduct of corn production. Would kick ass, because we sho do make a lot of cown here in the United States.
my strategy to save the planet would be to: inhibit further human population growth with incentives have incentives to keep male and female ratios reasonably balanced restrict further fossil fuel power plants restrict and reduce military budgets to build alternative power sources (who knows maybe even the arms industry could stop being a one trick pony and start building this stuff??) increase education spending in areas such as performance based (within reason) teaching salaries. the teachers make a commission on top of their wages if their pupils do well in external exams. increase healthcare funding specifically for preventive measures create measure to drastically cut energy use -new laws dictating car efficiencies, energy efficient street lighting. introduction of electric vehicles for government departments all government buildings to be covered with solar panels and heaters investment in alternative power source R+D. etc, etc, etc of course this will never pass because this requires a holistic strategy to address one problem with many answers
