OK, I just kinda freaked. Saw Resistance Isnt Futile username and for a second thought she was back.

Last I remember she was being whisked off to some Middle Eastern country by her soon to be husband to a world of very fundamentalist Islam.

    I wonder if/hope she's still alive...

    sorry for going off topic.......

I actually think about her everytime I read a story about a white girl running off to the middle east to wage jihad. Although I do think she moved to one of the more moderate, peaceful countries in the region

I grew up in Midland Texas, and hexacalent chromium, an oil distillation byproduct is common in well water in the area.

But it's not people throwing away the medications that are the major problem. The kidney's don't remove all the Prozac and others before urination, and that's responsible for the majority of it. Water filtration processes aren't designed to deal with exotic pharmaceuticals.

it takes an extremely large amount of energy (which would most likely come from burning gas) to heat the quantities of water a typical treatment plant might be dealing with to vaporization. treatment plants can process millions of gallons of water a day.

activated carbon might be a better option for removing organic compounds. the carbon would still have to be disposed of.

using bacteria capable of metabolizing these drug compounds to something inert might be a good thing.

I for the most part only drink bottled water. It can get expensive but usually it is cleaner. I at least filter my tap water if I'm gonna drink it.

I never drink bottled water. The tap water in the Boston area is very clean and tastes good. There is no guarantee that bottled water is any better and may be worse, not to mention the terrible waste of energy in creating and transporting it.

I am a rainwater person. I believe collecting your own rainwater in some parts of the USA is illegal.
