Tupac is easier to classify than a band like RATM. I don't view them as metal neither, but why piss on the fact that other people do so. I think it's moronic to say it is not metal because the vocals are rap by the way. Music sounds more like alternative rock to me (a nice and heavy kind). Anyway, it is about the music, not the genre in the end. Rap metal sounds logical enough to me though. Not everyone who has an other opinion on a genre name (dude please) than you or me is failing or a noob.

Very well said. Concise and to the point.

But you have to admit it is fun to angrily debate genres with younger folks.

It is only fun with good arguments. Posts where the most convincing part is supposed to be fail or noob make it hard to take the poster serious for me.

I dont know enough to accuse JMT specifically, but there are some really retarded debates.

    take for instance this thread
    http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=120437&f=265

28 to 4 zep over sab.

can we say this site {used to be} biased... Those fuckers are all saying that zep is SUPERIOR to sab. I know and I also know that you know that both bands are extremely talented and creative. One is not BETTER than the other, its alll a matter of taste.

seriously reading that thread makes me think that skip paid a bunch of people to act like "stuck up hippies".

Led was very bluesy but you can't say sabbath wasn't either but Sabbath was more dark in sound and evil towards lyrics were as to Led was more happy! lets bang groupies and do coke ( not that BS didnt do that either) just the BS focused more on the dark things in life then Led.

I think its a stupid poll maybe

Judas Priest vs BS might of been better since Judas came out maybe two or three years after BS.

Yeah, it's about preferences and some people feel like they're preferences match their (and those of other 'true' fans of that band/genre) theories about the music/genre and so seem to think that they're view is fact while it of course stays subjective after all.

    Origins
    K. K. Downing and Ian Hill had known each other since early childhood, as they lived near one another and attended the same nursery and school in West Bromwich. They became close friends in their early teens, when they shared similar musical interests (Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Cream, The Yardbirds) and learned to play instruments. The band was founded in 1969 in Birmingham, England, after a local ensemble named Judas Priest (after Bob Dylan's song "The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest" [3] from the John Wesley Harding album) split up. The band's singer, Al Atkins, approached Downing and Hill, who were playing as a power trio with drummer John Ellis, and asked if he could become their singer. With Atkins now in the band, Downing suggested they change their name to Judas Priest as he had been a fan of the original band.
With Downing as acting leader, the band moved away from their original blues influences to play hard rock and what would later come to be defined as heavy metal.[citation needed] This quartet played around Birmingham and the surrounding areas with various drummers until 1974, sometimes opening for bands such as Budgie, Thin Lizzy and Trapeze. Eventually, financial difficulties and problems with their management, Tony Iommi's company, IMA, led to the departure of Alan Atkins and drummer Alan Moore.
At the time, Ian Hill was dating a woman from the nearby town of Walsall who suggested her brother, Bob Halford,[4] be considered as a singer. Halford joined the band, bringing drummer John Hinch from his previous band, Hiroshima. (It should be noted that only later did Bob Halford become widely known as Rob Halford.) This line-up toured in the UK, often supporting Budgie, and even headlining some shows in Norway and Germany.

Black Sabbath are an English rock band, formed in Birmingham in 1968 by Ozzy Osbourne (lead vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Terry "Geezer" Butler (bass), and Bill Ward (drums and percussion). The band has since experienced multiple lineup changes, with a total of twenty-two former members. Originally formed as a heavy blues-rock band named Earth, the band began incorporating occult- and horror-inspired lyrics with tuned-down guitars, changing their name to Black Sabbath and achieving multiple gold and platinum records in the 1970s. As one of the first and most influential heavy metal bands of all time,[1] Black Sabbath helped define the genre with releases such as quadruple-platinum Paranoid, released in 1970.[2] They were ranked by MTV as the "Greatest Metal Band" of all time,[3] and placed second in VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock" list, behind Led Zeppelin.[4] They have sold over fifteen million records in the United States alone.[5]
Vocalist Ozzy Osbourne's drinking led to his firing from the band in 1979 and was replaced by former Rainbow vocalist Ronnie James Dio. After a few albums with Dio's vocals and his songwriting collaborations, Black Sabbath endured a revolving lineup in the 1980s and 1990s that included vocalists Ian Gillan, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen and Tony Martin. In 1992, Iommi and Butler rejoined Dio and drummer Vinny Appice to record Dehumanizer. The original lineup reunited with Osbourne in 1997 and released a live album, Reunion. The early/mid 1980s line-up featuring Iommi, Butler, Dio, and Appice reformed in 2006 under the title, Heaven & Hell

I guess I was mistaken. BS came befoer JP

but the BS/LZ debate is analogous to the JP/IM debate.
