Yeah, that city is totally destroyed... I guess it could go to housing then!

That always reminds me of that man...the old archeologist from Palmyra.
Captured and tortured by ISIS. Accused of a lot of things, when in fact ISIS wanted artifacts from Palmyra (selling antiquities was a source of income). He refused to tell them where they are, so they murdered him. Publicly.

I remember reading about that a couple of years ago. Still saddens me.

My local NPR station is playing performances from Notre Dame today

 

Oh, the billion dollars they raised is mostly for the poor? I didn't realize that.

 

But they would have been reproducing. There would still be forest, I think, not dust.

 

They wouldnt have sourced the wood from that far away. Probably from an area now covered in Paris suburbia; concrete apartments blocks, asphalt carparks, shopping malls

The Notre-Dame Cathedral.

The International Competition Will Decide Whether A Spire Should Be Rebuilt......And Whether The Spire

Designed And Built By Viollet le Duc Should Be Rebuilt The Same Way......Identically.

Alternatively......The Cathedral Could Be Given A New Spire......Adapted To The Challenges Of Our Future...(end news article).

AND I CAN EASILY GUESS WHAT THAT LAST LINE MEANS......"Adapted To The Challenges Of

Our Future" He Said.......Which I Interpret As......BUILDING A CELLPHONE TOWER FOR

That building had a nice... Erection.

 

Most of the church fires in the US over the last 3 decades has been inside jobs for donations and insurance money. Until recently only 4 of them were absolutely proven to be the work of racial/radical assholes. Now it's up to 7 because of a single asshole who burned 3 churches.
