Poop, you kind of approach this like a Communist leader approaches his country. He doesn't care what fills that country emotionally or spiritually. He only cares for the physical department in things. Which is money, appearance, armies ect. Shit that doesn't matter, its human nature that brought that stuff here. Turns me off man, I wish you'd look in a different direction.
Woo hoo! We got another shit starter here on the forums! This idiot is making an assumption that all black people are either A) Jamaican, or B) rastafarian. That alone sounds like a pretty racist comment to me. Most black people in the U.S with dreads don't have them for religious/cultural purposes, so by your reasoning they're no better than any of the white folks out there with locks. The fact is, hair will dread itself naturally over time, no matter what color your skin is, or what god you worship. How can someone "steal" a hairstyle that never truly belonged to any one particular race to begin with? And you can't blow off white ancestors who wore their hair in locks, but yet use black ancestors as a reason to claim that white people somehow stole it from them. It's just as much a part of "white" culture as it is a part of "black" culture. Not that I am in any way taking up for the white race, I don't like most of them anyway. If you want to talk about race, why don't you talk about something serious and real? For the millions of people across the world who have dealt with oppression, racism, slavery and other such crimes based solely on the color of their skin (or gender and religion), I really doubt they're primary concern is the way other people choose to wear their hair. Yet another white honky without a clue. Big surprise there. Maybe your heart is in the right place, but your brain has alot of catching up to do.
Maybe you need to pull your head out of your ass, and quit sippin on the moonshine. As far as I'm concerned your the only shit starter, I did not ask for your opion, I simply stated mine.
I agree, your entitled to your oppinion. as long as the only person your hurt with those thoughts is yourself, wallow if you wish.
I am just as entitled to my own opinion as you are to yours, honky. I don't exactly recall anyone asking for yours either, that didn't stop you though from spewing your ignorant crap for the world to see. Opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one......except your's is big, fat and full of shit. That's okay though, I'm not here to fight. Feel free to make more moonshine jokes if you wish, that last one was just too gawd-damn funny. Did you think of it all by yourself?
hey poop is this some kind of desperate cry for help? i just don't see the point of this thread (although the cruel jokes are rather funny)
Please define honky. Did you come up with the asshole one all by urself? YOUR MY HERO. To bad its far to late to be just like you. Apparantly you are here to fight, you made another post, so what the fuck mate? Lash out You people who call yourself "hippies" are using (insert lame cause here) as an excuse to rally and feel like a hero for a brief moment in a futile attempt to save the world. How fucking beautiful
but where would we be without independence then? it would be so boring if everyone did what they want... people can do what they want, psyche
Dreads are not new! The Egyptians pharaohs wore deadlocked wigs and Celtic sometimes made dreadlocks (as someone already mentioned) by shaping it with mud. It's said to be one of the oldest hairstyles and they develop naturally over time, especially with curly hair. Now there are different reasons for wearing them, not just the Rastafarian. At some ways it can be a religious thing, African American, a stand for racial pride, a representation for a left-winger, Afrocentrist policy. For some they just happen, they become natural or in some cases made for the reason of “nice looking hair”. You might see Rastafarian dreads on that guy just cross the streets but those might be quite the same looking dreads but worn for a different reason compared to the "dready man" next to him. Some dreads are a belonging to a culture but in different cultures, not just African and Rastafarian and so on. As I don't like the peace sign to become a part of a trend it’s the same with Rastafarian or political dreads, dreads that become a part of mode through their meaning and symbol. But I say be free to wear your hear the way you want to. If it's political then let it be political. If you think it looks nice, it's nice for you, perhaps for me too. If you wear it with your Che Guevara T-shirt and say "hasta la victoria simpre" without knowing what communism is then you're on the wrong track! But bee free to express yourself the way you want to. I won't make a small piece of prison by telling what can and can't be done when the subject is apart of the situation that never makes any harm to anyone. Be free, be yourself, if dreads are you then wear them, they are your dreads while the Celtic ones are Celtic and Rastafarian are Rastafarian even thought they look quite the same. It's the reason for wearing them that makes difference! Peace out!
im a 17 year old girl with dreads, for quite a while my hair was in very bad condition...probably due to not washing enough!! it was actually my friends black rastafarian dad who suggested leting my hair dread. he could accept me (being white) getting dreads, how come you cant poopship guy?
I am planning on getting dreads..and after reading all this...I want them more...why? Becasue Dreads are cool. And those who find them cool can like them and have them w/e. And those who don't don't have to bother with them. Yes, some may think dreads are a bad hairstyle....but hey, its your opinion. I don't think this is a cultural debate...its more opinion oriented.... Not everyone in the world has the same opinion, and thats what makes it so diverse, and what sapereates "hippies" from other people. Opinions shape who we are. so everyone has expressed their opinion quite clearly....even those with or without dreads who have commented all have their own opinion, and would still have the same opinion even with a different hairstyle. It isn't the hair style that shapes a person, or even how they dress, but how they act and react. I have now expressed my opnion, and some of you may not agree, but thats the beauty of it, we all have different opinions becuase we're all free thinking independent individuals...
