Yeah I was thinking the exact same thing. The consumerist public loves controversy and the people who are captivated by this are just eating this shit up. This is certainly an indirect (quite possibly direct) marketing ploy to get people excited. Kind of like the controversy of New Coke in 1985.

At first I thought the U.S. government asked Sony to pull the movie, but then President Obama came out critical of Sony's decision. I wonder which will hurt Sony more, the lack of revenue from the movie or the backlash from its customers? People tend to remember these things when making purchases, especially when it's a close call between one product and another. "Oh, I'll buy the other product. It's got similar features to Sony's, and the price is comparable, but Sony gave into North Korea."
