North Korea Announces End Of Nuclear Testing

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea says it has suspended nuclear and long-range missile tests and plans to close its nuclear test site.

The North’s official Korean Central News Agency said the suspension of nuclear and ICBM tests went into effect Saturday.

The country says it’s making the move to shift its national focus and improve its economy.

The announcements came days before North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is set to meet South Korean President Moon Jae-in in a border truce village for a rare summit aimed at resolving the nuclear standoff with Pyongyang.

The North’s decisions were made in a meeting of the ruling party’s full Central Committee which had convened to discuss a “new stage” of policies. North Korea says it will suspend nuclear and missile testing

 

This is the best news that I have heard all day!

Maybe he's a lonely boy who decided he wanted friends.

 

Its impossible to hide a nuclear test blast, or even fissionable materials which can be detected from even orbit, but politicians will claim anything they feel like.

 

I guess their testing proved a success and in working order!

True, but it seems like China may have had a part in this. They don't want to upset their only real ally.

I think that the whole Korea situation is far more complex than we realize and the media concentrate on the bad aspects in the North.

For years the north have lived a miserable existence, confined to an area behind the peninsula with no oil or mineral wealth, while the south flourished.
Although I have no sympathy with the way that they have behaved over the last decade, they have brought their situation to the notice of the entire world.
I think by far the best solution would be for a close unity of the entire country, along with a sharing of wealth and with an open border.
I hope that Trump will cooperate with Kim John and help close this sad situation of stand off and injustice, since sanctions have only harmed the everyday citizens and united the country with its leaders.

Kim John has made his point. NOW is the time for diplomacy.!!!!!!!

It is also well time that educated people throughout the western world saw the American news channels for the idiots that they really are and realize that they make their living out of conflict and grief, escalating hatred at the same time..

 

KJU and NK are not known for honesty. Something's up.

 

The timing of this with Chinas takeover of the Sth China sea (all their military infrastructure is finished there) is a little too co-incidental.

NK probably just got a secret ultimatum from China.

I dont think its a good thing, sign of trouble to come from China
