I wasn't aware that Hippie was a political identity. I always thought hippies valued diversity of all sorts of backgrounds, ideas, community. I had no idea you could get your hippie card revoked for voting republican lol.

But yes, if you like wearing tie dye. Your friends probably won't generalize you as being a hippie anyway. If a random stranger assumes you're a hippie, well fuck 'em. Who cares what they think?

I'm always baffled as to why some hippies hate being called a hippie. I notice that about hipsters too.

 

Believe it or not, some people might find it misleading. One might assume, e.g., that you smoke pot. You may or may not, and it depends on how you present yourself. Actually, that being the case, I guess it's probably ok.

In all actuality, I have tried to do some research on the tattoos that I have, before getting them. But, I'm no professor either. As for the piercings, I'm a girl... so I just think they're cute, and I like pain.

 

Right fucking on, i've seen dudes with lumberjack beards, skinny jeans, and suspenders make fun of hipsters..like wtf do you have no idea what you look like? They were probably riding their bike to a farm-to-table restaurant to order a gluten free craft beer and handmade pasta sprinkled with locally sourced goat cheese too.

 

....I actually just described an average Saturday afternoon for me minus the gluten free beer option, so I guess I'm guilty of it too
