Well, that's what is says in the description, but no mods appear to enforce it. I have often wondered how long it would be before a person was perma-banned if they posted the inflammatory type of shit in the Buddhist forum like is allowed in the Christian forums. My guess is less than 24 hours. I posted a thread a couple of years ago pointing out the horribly biased way in which the religious forums are presented. Just the simple forum descriptions are so biased in favor of Buddhism and so anti-Christian and anti-Islam as to render the concept of a "Sanctuary" forum here an utter joke. But hey, it's Skip's show, so........
The Sanctuary wasn't about free of challenge. I sorta remember this as the reason: In the Sanct. the bible is allowed to be quoted as a debate tactic. In the main Xtain forum, it was not. The two forums used to miff me just because it was the height of hypocrisy for what was allowed there and what would get you banned anywhere else on the forum. It was one of the main reasons I never gave this site money, until this year.
i do not believe whatever wrong or right ideas anyone may have about it, or any other belief, has anything to do with why there isn't its own subsection. each subsection requires someone to moderate it. i very seriously doubt anyone of demonstrated reliability has come forward to do so. as i repeat, is likewise the most probably explanation for many other beliefs lacking sub sections of their own as well.
It wasn't Christians who created the "Sanctuary". One of the purposes was to create a kind of ghetto for Bible thumpers, where they can quote scripture to each other that's banned on the regular Christian forum. The regular Christian forum used to be a place where Christianity was typically attacked--and it got pretty virulent. I'm not talking rational arguments. I'm talking "Christians SUCK!" and posts of similar intellectual quality. There were also Christian bible thumpers who were trying to proselytize the heathen by mindlessly quoting Scripture. Both kinds of posters have mostly gone away since the change was made. As for a Satanist forum, the topic of Satanism has been discussed on the Cults forum. Defining "Satanism" might be a problem. Would the forum include all religions which are known in occult circles as "Left-Hand Path'? That would include LaVey's Church of Satan, Theistic Satanists, Luciferians, Temple of Set, Dakhum of Angra mainyu, Alteister Crowley's Thelemans, etc. I agree they don't belong with the pagans, and certainly not with the Christians. Btw, Christians didn't invent Satan. Ha Satan made his Abrahamic debut in the Old Testament, as "the Adversary" or "the Accuser", after the return of the Jews from Babylon, and was probably of Persian origin. Muslims also believe in him, so it would be as logical to put the Satanists on the Muslim forum as on the Christian forums.
