The press is starting to tell us what we are experiencing is not a recession, but a constriction...watch for this new term.

Someone in an advertising firm has told them we will respond more favorably to this term.

I'm not arguing any of the stats you posted, or the economic state of the United States. I'm calling you a fucking idiot for posting a link that contradicts what you claim. It does and you are. I really don't care what you want to call what is going on. Do you still think that Bush's economic stimulus package isn't going to do a fucking thing? Because your link claims that it will. You're busted. Jackass.

Its true Stev, you did contradict yourself. No amount of flaming can change that.

Its interesting that the US unemployment rate - supposedly in the middle of a nightmare recession/depression - is so much lower than the unemployment rate in European countries which supposedly have healthy, growing economies.

Bush's economic "stimulus" package won't do a damn thing, other than stimulate the printing of play money, money printed out of thin air. HAHA!!!

And it looks like the government is going to be printing more and more and more paper "money", lots and lots and lots of it... [IMG]

Lawmakers, White House push for home help plan

As lawmakers return to work the heat is on to push through a plan to help cash-strapped borrowers and ease the tight credit market.

Perhaps it's because they measure it differently. Perhaps, they include all people still unemployed that no longer receive unemployment benefits. Funny thing here in California all our State run employment offices were closed years back we now have One-Stop-Centers run by private firms who receive State and Federal grants. If they don't supply the data wanted they don't receive the grants. And the one in my area is more directed to serving employers needs then looking after the needs of the workers.

For two years after the last Bush recession officially "ended" the economy continued to lose jobs.
