I am actually tryin to read the book No One Here Gets Out Alive . Trying I say because I have so much going on LOL. I have to get into it though cause I really would like to know one of my favorite singers better. Maybe understand him a little more. So far though I have found that the book goes back to tell a lot about people that have met JDM even some on a personal level. Others are just random acts of crazyness that Jim did. Though it does have a few quotes here and there from Jim. It also tells about Jims childhood and his teens and how he grew up and how he met Pam. I have to say its definately includes a VARIETY of things about Jim. It skips around a little to much for me but maybe thats because I havent actually got down to read read it. So much time has gone since I picked up the book I think I will just have to go and reread all of what I read now. I do however know of another good book if you are Jim Morrison fan. Aldous Huxley wrote a book called The Doors of Perception http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Doors_of_Perception gives a little description of what the book is about. I read part of the book and then a friend really really wanted to borrow it and I never got to finish it. Definately a hard book to read but interesting. Brings you to think of things a little differently. I wanted to read this book only because I read that Jim Morrison came up with the name THE DOORS after reading this book. Go read it and I bet you agree. Definately a hard book to read though. if you like jim check out my site: www.dawnson64.piczo.com
I remember 'No one gets out here alive' led to a mini-revival of 'The Doors'.Not that they need to be revived. They are always 'alive' in popular culture. I admit I have never read this book but I have picked up so many little snippetts & anecdotes about Jim Morrison that I consider myself, quite in-the-know about him. E.g: sitting next to Van Morrison in The 'Whisky A-Go-Go' club,in 1966.Jim & Van were escorted off the premises when they 'heckled' Johnny Rivers as he performed his on stage act.
I LOVED that book. I guess it was just written well. Man I loved it. But I heard its not really accurate, so that kind of sucks.
i dont like any books about jim morrison. i like HIS books more. i think they work better than some guy who was his friend telling his 'story'
I quote it,but remember that even if they didn't give only true information about him, they 're trying to keep him alive!-also if it could be consideres a way to make money- So i do appreciate this Book! I read in in three days, and i really enjoyed it!!
I got this book when I was 16 and have read it probably 6 or 7 times since then. It's definately one of my favorites...I still to this day won't let anyone borrow it..lol
this was my first Morrison book. i thought it was good but you can tell that it was wrote by a fan. im ot trying to say that books wrote by fans are bad things, its just that i felf i wasnt getting to see the full picture of Jim,it didnt go into as much depth as i needed. shortly after reading this book i bought Break on thru. its a far better book in terms that u are more informed about James Morrison, the real person.
this is a great book i read half of it when i was in high school but i will have to pick a copy up now and finish it this time.
i read no one here gets out alive a while ago, i found it humorus yet enlightening to the unfortunately short life of jim morrison. i think that jim morrisons biography was wonderfully written. im glad i had the fortune of resding that book...
jim morrisons poetry is good too..... i like the way you can understand it but not understand it at the same time. noone knows exactly what was going through his head when he wrote it but u can understand the point...
No one here gets out alive was the first book i ever read about jim or the doors, The book led to me reading other books like "riders on the storm"(GREAT book by the way). Anyway, the book is a great biographie on an amazing man and Danny Sugarmen did a great job of capturing pretty much eveything.
