JDFU...you really don't have to use every discussion about Jesus to bring up Biblical predictions. I'm already well aware of these and your's and Campbell's positions on them, and I'd venture a guess that most of the regulars here are as well. What I was doing is pointing out that there are other very well known and widely read scriptures that predate the Bible and that many people live their lives by. It's a fact, whether it fits your worldview or not. I've seen this time and again...when you and Campbell are faced with a subject that you're incapable of discussing or don't wish to discuss, you divert the subject to Biblical prophecy. It's a convenient evasion and dismissal tactic for both of you.
I was not using the prophecies as escapism but rather to show you why the Bible is valid and why the other religious text are not. I am very aware that other religous text predate the Bible. Saying that doesnt fit my worldview is not an argument.
This phenomenon is not uncommon with faulty artificial intelligence. When software integrity is threatened by challenging information, their only defense is to recall programming as to purge the foreign data from inputs.
This is what you've stated: The presence of arguably-correct prophecies in the Bible is sufficient proof that the Bible is the only valid scripture in existence...case rested. Flawed reasoning, JDFU. I used the word evasion...it has a very different meaning than escapism. Look both up. You're right, it's not.
I don't know anything about the mechanics of computer programming, but that would seem to make sense from an AI perspective as well as from a larger human one.
We bring up the prophecies because they are truthful, the other religious text you have mentioned donot have prophecies with this kind of truth in them, these books make claims without facts. The end of time draws close, and the Bible points this out. The other religions all counterdict each other, and they donot lead man closer to the truth, but farther away. And that's what those religions were created. True evil, loves religion.
Jesus tells us that no murders will enter the kingdom of Heaven. People who claim to be Christians and murder others are not Christian. And if the Bible was just propaganda, why are it's prophecies true? CAN YOU ANSWER THAT QUESTION? WHY ARE THE PROPHECIES OF THE BIBLE TRUE?
I GOT NEWS FOR U, GALILEO MAY NOT OF GOT ALONG WITH THE CHURCH, BUT THIS IS WHAT HE BELIEVED OF THE BIBLE. Excerpts from the letter to Madame Christina. Galileo writes, "I think in the first place that it is very pious to say and prudent to affirm THAT THE HOLY BIBLE CAN NEVER SPEAK UNTRUTH--WHENEVER ITS TRUE MEANING IS UNDERSTOOD." Now tell me, DO YOU AGREE WITH GALILEO'S STATEMENT?
Campbell...regarding your reply to my post, #64, the preceding discussion was with JDFU, not you...I was looking forward to reading his hopefully-reasoned response to my assertion that his reasoning was unsound...instead I got a blast of hot recycled gas from you. Do you guys routinely toss each other the ones you don't want to deal with, or do you feel a need to cover for your kid?
Well I think there is room for both of us here, yet I enjoy responding, and I'm sure JesusDied4U will respond if he's around. Forgive me if I got in the way.
The bible is the word of god because the bible says it is the word of god. What rational being could argue with that? Occam
