" I just don't know-I just don't". I certainly accept that statement. I believe anyone that has searched for some kind of OBJECTIVE truth relative to the human condition and our place in existance ,has eventually tried to determine the who ,what, when and why this existance (as much as we are able to determine, which is not much), exists at all.An objectivist will come to the conclusion that existance -just "is',given that one is left to their own intellectual pursuit of such and can break loose from the pre-conditioning as mentioned. The "answer/s" have been provided over the millenia by those that seek adherants in good faith or by horrible actions of those that see the "answers" differantly. Creation requires a creator. That's really all any of us can know in our present biological states and so far---no one knows and no one can know the answers to the questions I posed, hubris notwithstanding. Therefore,in my opinion----"I don't know--I just don't" is the correct answer. -----My nickels worth, anyway.

What is more relevant to the human condition than the Who, what, when, and where?
I don't understand how those things "aren't much".

thats true. I'm not sure which judgement I despise the most...Christians who judge the more tolerant Christians, or non-Christians who pass snap judgements just because of someone's religion.

Thats one of the many reasons why I stopped calling myself a Christian. However, Christianity is mainly derived from the New Testament. The Old Testament is more or less Judaism. A Christian is basically defined as someone who thinks that Christ is the only way to eternal salvation. You can believe that without believing anything else in the Bible and still be a Christian. I know many Christians who don't believe in most of the Bible because they believe so much has been lost in translation throughout the yeasr. Which is true.

I'm not really trying to argue any points. I'm just trying to make you feel better about being a Christian..or deciding to not be a Christian. whatever floats your boat.

I actually disagree wholeheartedly with this statement. I think at their purest every religion is about love. Everything else is just words that have been manipulated by man to control people and support political gain.

whoever does not love does not know God, for God is Love. -1 John 4:8

Thanks everyone for their replies it give me more to ponder.

Mel, I'd like to say I know you're not trying to argue. I think we just disagree on some points which is not only expected but very welcomed. Your posts are insightful and I enjoy reading them.

I think though we have some disagreements again.

    1. Christianity is not just about The New Testament. The only part of the Old Testament (if you're a Bible believing Christian) you're told not too put too much stock in is the Levitical laws. Most of the major branches feel the same way.

    2. I think I understand what you say when you say love is the purest form of religion. But I'm not sure. Are you saying love for others in and of itself is what religion should be? I can see many fine merits in that.

But, it can also be read as all religions are about love. That I don't wholeheartedly agree with. A lot of it is about agenda and like an earlier poster mentioned, control.

I'd also like to thank everyone for being not only civil but supportive in their posts.

Heeh-post 22. What I meant was that we haven't been able to determine much, not that those questions aren't much. They're everything that's REALLY important.
