From Field Manual FM 27-10: “Bodies shall not be cremated except for imperative reasons of hygiene or for motives based on the religion of the deceased. In case of cremation, the circumstances and reasons for cremation shall be stated in detail in the death certificate or on the authenticated list of the dead. “ The military career of the LT is over - a reassignment like that is a for sure promotion stopper. The two troops that did the burning were reprimanded. What would you have had the military do? Mistreatment of a body is not a major crime even in the US.
Here's another somewhat related story regarding CIA flights. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20051127/ts_nm/security_cia_flights_dc .
hmm mistreatment of bodies i seem to remember 4 defence "contractors" being killed, burnt, dragged, kicked and finally being strung up on a bridge. i remember alot of people being shocked by this. of course this is all standard fare now.
I remember them well, as I remember the body being dragged through the street in Somalia and the burnt Airmen at Desert 1 during the hostage rescue mission. The point is that troops under command at supposed to be better than that. They are not trained that way and the countries they represent claim to be above that sort of thing.
What, our troops don't have shovels? As far as atrocities committed by "them", don't forget who invaded who. They didn't invade, kill and torture us, we did it (and are still doing it) to them.
I was being sarcastic. I meant that the four American contractors were killed for sanitary reasons. .
The killing and torture they are committing is because WE invaded, killed and tortured them, don't you get it? How would they be able to kill and torture us unless WE were over there? saddam has NEVER done anything against us. We goaded saddam into Petro War I by allowing our ally, the dictatorship of Kuwait, to steal Iraq's oil against international agreements and blocked Iraq's attempts to have a hearing via the UN, and then invaded (although papabush promised we wouldn't). Even though we buried surrendering Iraqi's alive, bombed civilian bomb shelters and killed over a million Iraqi's via the U.S.-sponsered embargo of the basics of human life--food and medicine, and STILL saddam did nothing against us. All he ever did was defend himself and his countrymen against a foriegn invasion, every countries right.
