You can go on and on with the over generalizations of the similarities of Democrats and Republicans, but you cannot deny things were much better when Clinton was President and that Bush promised to change that and did.

The fact is that if someone like Nader gets enough votes, Bush will have an easy victory.

Bush is not a conservative. Conservatives are for smaller government, fiscal responsibility, and a big military which stays in America.

Liberals want a bigger government, spend on credit, and want a smaller military everywhere.

Bush is a Neo-Con. Merge the worst characteristics of both views and you have one.

    Wrong!

Kerry did not win the CMH. He won three Purple Hearts, one Silver Star, and one Bronze Star. Look it up!

THere are only 2 parties in the US, and they are fighting for the same middle block of voters. I think this causes the available candidates, Kerry and Bush, to be the same in too many ways.

I think netherlands, with its multiparty system, offers a more meaningful set of political choices.

the rpoblem is that they claim different cuases and practices, but once they're in office, there isn't much that changes.

Like Ive said elsewhere, Kerry will be the same sort of stopgap presidency that Clinton's was. 4-8 years, just long enough for everyone in the nation to go back to sleep and take no notice of the fact that all the neo-con infrastructure has remaineed intact (USA Patriot Act I & II and the DHS) so that the neo-cons can come back after on a new wave of lies and promises to resume their perpetual warmongering where they left off.

Only a truly ballsy President, prepared to risk only serving one term, who would begin to overturn corporate influence, put the MIC and the intelligence services under complete scrutiny and accountability, utterly revoke the Patriot Act and all its stipulations, and dismantle the stazi police state represented by the DHS (send Ridge packing), would have any chance to deliver on the oft heard slogan "taking back America".

As it is, itll simply be another set of corporate interests raised to the fore whilst the elitest status quo continues undisturbed.

Here is another way to think of the two parties under Bush or Kerry. Perhaps they are each a kind of shield, protecting and hiding the private lives of their respective special interest groups.

Here are two extreme examples of this way of looking at the parties.

Bush. White supremacists are not accepted by large sectors of society, yet they know they will do better under Bush, whether or not he publicly supports them. So W.S. and their supporters will pull for Bush, and under the Repubs in their private lives they can practice their white supremacist ways with less trouble. This will be true even if Bush doesn't like them.

Kerry. Pornographers also are not accepted by large segments of the public. But they know under Kerry they will do better even if he publicly condemns them. So they will pull for Kerry, knowing under him in their private lives they can conduct their business, selling sex, with less harrassment. This will be true even if the Dems publicly condemn them.

So the issues raised during campaigns by Kerry and Bush, and their parties are usually smoke screens intended to protect and enable the private lives of their special interest groups.

So if you are not a member of a special interest group, who wants their activities in their private lives shielded from other groups in society, then you have no reason to support either president, I would think.

Also if you have no private life you really have no reason to support either president.
