Which was a reply to xexon’s post and it had meanings other than what it said. Something you don’t seem to understand or you wouldn’t have asked what you did.

That quote is a paraphrase of an old song and if you look up the song, the phrases high road and low road have no other meaning than to distinguish between two roads going to the same place. In fact the one taking the low road in the song is to get to Scotland first.

But you, by your question make a big deal about my taking the high road, when in reality it makes no difference for the reply I made to xexon’s post. I could have as easily have said right or left or north or south and it would have made no difference in the meaning of my post.

It was just more fun for me to paraphrase an old song.

Maybe you should trying taking the high road some time!

Sorry for not being aware of ancient random lyrics, and for holding the common perception that "high" is a word that has a connotation of implying that someting has more worth than something that is relatively "low".

 

OWB, the lyrics of Loch Lomond are "Ye'll take the high road and I'll take the low road".

Paraphrasing the song by saying you would take the high road left the impression that you were placing your views over xexon's.

So with that I can see why neodude asked what he asked. Had he not, I might have asked the same thing myself.

You see, you started asking questions about something not addressed to you without understanding what was being talked about. Your first question should have been; why Scotland?, seeing as you didn't understand the reference to it and not about something that was not being referred to at all, such as a more valuable (?) road.

As for "high" having the connotation of more worth, please explain then the expression; "being high handed" or is that too ancient and random an expression for you to be aware of, as well?

What your impressions were of what I said to xexon, have little to do with what I actually said to him.

People often have mistaken impressions, especially when they don't understand what was said to begin with.

If you had done so, you would have shown that you misunderstood, just like neodude did,.

Actually I understand perfectly well. I can't speak for him but I strongly suspect neodude does as well.

Intellectual elistism will get you nowhere in a hurry on this site so I kindly suggest you stop trying to be high-handed and pretending you understand more than everybody else on whatever the subject happens to be at the time. Which btw, is supposed to be the no Bible quotes rule. We seem to have gotten pretty far off of that track.

 

In case you weren't aware, this is a public forum. We are perfectly entitled to expound or ask you about anything you post, regardless of who it was "directed" to. If it wasn't relevant to me at all, I wouldn't have asked.

Okay I'll spell it out for you.

Let me illustrate it this way:

Xexon is talking about something and when he finishes, I say look a chicken!

Then neodude says why did you call xexon a coward?

Then I say neodude you’re looking a little too hard for hidden meanings.

Neodude says but it’s an honest question.

I say yes but your question really doesn’t have any thing to do with what is being said.

Woodsman says oh yes does.

Neodude says oh yes it does. And then asks why I’m avoiding the question?

I then explain that what I said in no way infers that xexon was a coward and so his question is meaningless. The reason it is meaningless is that I’m paraphrasing an old joke about ADD, to make a point to xexon. It just seemed fun to make a point to xexon by paraphrasing an old joke.

Neodude then accuses me of being dishonest. Sorry for not being aware of ancient random jokes and for holding the common perception that "chicken" is a word that has a connotation of implying that someone is a coward.

Then woodsman jumps in and tells me; OWB, this is how the joke really goes. Paraphrasing the joke by saying “look a chicken” you’re calling xexon a coward

I then said how have I answered without honesty? I also said that I was talking to xexon not you. Why? Because I believed what I had said xexon might understand which neither of you had.
I then asked how chicken salad implied the salad was a coward?
