Ouch! My ankles and knees just gave me a painful poke, as they came to know about that suggestion!

:jester: Furthermore, being 6 ft. 4.7 in. tall (1.95m for the metrics among us), wearing 7 in. heels would get me into trouble trying to walk through doors with my back straight. Even for the sheer shock effect of that, I wouldn't do that, really.

Well, I kind of do that, since I have to work occasional Saturday shifts and do that wearing no shoes whatsoever. Since the bigwig officials are normally not there on weekend days, I work fully barefoot and in a more hippie outfit on those days. I once ran into the place's CEO who was there on a Saturday in a free-time leisure outfit (jeans and ckeckered shirt), who just gave me the usual "good morning" greeting, not minding my barefeet at all. When I began my job career in that firm, all the officials knew about my lifestyle "weirdness" (as it is still perceived by mainstream society) and who were genuinely interested as to why I walk barefoot, what benefits there are, and who were and still are impressed about my tolerance of colder temperatures and walking surfaces they wouldn't dare.

In hot summer months, quite many of the OLs (office ladies) can be seen walking around the building in their bare feet even though the "Work security" menace is hovering above them... I haven't heard about any of them stepping into a thumbtack or the like, really...

As I wrote, the "ban" of those barefoot-like shoes was just a paper tiger baring claws. No more, no less. I recently got praised by my team leader for my lifestyle and personality choices, as he invited me to an evaluation talk session (which normally is done on a half-year basis, or at least annually - however, due to more work to do, this had been forgotten in years). Since the company feels, that I have done more than just average or good work, I got a top-rate evaluation and was promoted to what is known in the hierarchy there as "master agent" - that qualifies in their structure as the same rank as assistant team leader, plus a little raise in my salary. The raise is not the main thing about it, really, but the position as one of the best workers in that firm, as they see it (even though I am not a kisser of superiors' butts *LOL*) is a neat thing for a part-time at-work barefooter, I think.

So, I just shrug about their so-called reason for banning the shoes I wore, and look at the mild seasons to come with ease, as these will be the flip-flop seasons.
    :)

    Happy toes,

I've never had a problem in the Home Depot I frequent. They do have "THE SIGN" in the door as you enter but no one has ever said anything to me about my lack of footwear.

Well here's my Home Depot story. I actually got a doctor to give me a note and it worked like a charm last summer. Every place that tried to yell at me, backed off after I would show the note. They were afraid of being sued for not following the ADA act. Anywho, I got yelled at by the manager of home depot. After showing the note and playing the ADA card, he told that if I actually have a medical reason for going barefoot I would need to use a store provided wheelchair to shop there. He said he doesn't care what I do as long as my bare feet do not touch the ground.

Oh, my gosh! That's incredibly ridiculous! And they don't even have nice floors, either...just bare, concrete ones. I guess that manager seems to be worried about something happening to your feet - but it'd happen anyway, wheelchair or not.

I must hand it to you, though. That's a wonderful way to get managers let you go barefoot without the fear of you suing.

These are the same type of people who will burn you at the stake because you don't attend the same church as they do.

I think that I'd find some ways to make his life unpleasant. Letters to corporate headquarters from an attorney, ads in the local paper (have you been discriminated against by home depot? Call (attorney name) for more information) and letters to the editor.

Big corporations HATE this kind of stuff and even if it's not successful in getting this bigot to change his attitude, he'll have to have multiple meeting with corporate and be grilled repeatedly by their attorneys, something that I'm sure he'll not enjoy.

I stopped at a Frisch's Big Boy for lunch with a co worker a few days ago, I slipped my shoes off as soon as we sat down, I am sure our waitress noticed but she didn't seem to mind. We were sitting about 20 ft. from the Salad bar, I got up to get some Fruit and Salad from the bar, the manager appeared and insisted that I put my shoes on while in the dining area, rather then cause I scene I put my shoes back on, but probably won't return to this restaurant again, there are many places to get lunch around my office that are barefoot friendly.

Too bad you didn't start walking on your hands.
