yeah, he wasnt as good as keith moon, and as for the foo fighters, not bad, but i think dave grohl should've stuck to drums.
oh my fucking god. does writing some of the catchyest guitar hooks of all time count for anything??!?! kurt cobain was an amazing guitar player, have you even heard bleach? and who to you are good guitar players? jimi hendrex? eric clapton? just because you dont take acid doesnt mean you're not a good guitarist. this whole thread just baffles me. it seriously does. i was born in the wrong generation.
that's rediculous. i really want to go off on you with a huge rant about kurt cobain's importance to the world of rock, but for one thing, its hard for me to even respect your oppinion when your high all the time, and two, this is the internet, and i'm trying to put my flaming over-reacting days behind me. but i'll indulge myself once more... to the guy who said this: "Nirvana is a pretty good band but they are terrible musicians" you're an idiot. being a good musician doesn't come down to how many scales you know, or whether or not you can do weedly weedly guitar center butt rock solos, it comes down to whether or not you can give your instrument of choice a voice of its own. it's called artistic vision. nirvana created the sound of a generation, they created teenage anthems, and you can't create an anthem when you're a bad musician. and theyre not even bad musicians in the butt rock guitar center sense, krist noveselic wrote some damn hooky bass lines, kurt found a way to duplicate the vocal melody of "teen spirit", and that's pretty hard to do when you're an ugly guitarist. and dave grohl is a madman on drums. and so was theyre drummer for bleach, chad channing. i read in an article sonic youth's thurston moore wrote about when they went on tour together, and basicly all nirvana listened to were REM, the pixies, cheap trick and the beatles. so they knew how to right a pop song. anyway at this point im rambling, i just got the nirvana box set last night, so i'm on a huge nirvana kick.
actually, kurt wrote most of the music himself, dave and krist just played it. but anywho, i totally agree. people who think nirvana sucks have no imagination.
