Do any of you go by nicknames to certain people in your lives? Does it sound weird if they call you by your real name? My clients at work are pretty much the only people in my life that call me by my actual name. I go by so many different nicknames depending on who I'm talking to. I bring this up because the other day my husband was getting annoyed with me and he called me by my real name. It definitely caught my attention because he never calls me by my name. Some of my nicknames are... Babe Animal Brat Mama (I don't have kids) Mernie Me Ann Murph Agnes Aunt Cindy (cindy isn't even close to my real name) Giggles MA Little Bitch Those are just a few off the top of my head. So do you have nicknames and what are they (if you want to share)?
One of my childhood friends entire family calls me giggles. I hadn't seen them for about 10 years when one of the parents passed away. I walked into the funeral home and I was hearing all kinds of whispers "Is that giggles?" I hadn't heard that name in years. Brought back a million memories. I do laugh ALL THE TIME though so it makes perfect sense.
How do you pronounce that name? In America, it's usually pronounced "Ag-niss" and I just think it's terrible (it's a personal bias). Actually, I had a coworker from Germany and her name was Agnes but she never told anyone because she hated it so much!
Hi Giggles and Bubbles! I was called "Tree", by high school friends (sometimes a hs friend calls me that now) and currently "Billiam", by my stepdaughter's best friend. I've had more, but those are the only ones I hear on occasion now.
For some unknown reason in college I was called Billie. To this day there are people who think thats my name.
One of my friends started calling me that when I bought a shirt in high school that she thought looked like an old lady shirt. She said "That looks like something that an old woman named Agnes would wear" It just stuck. I have a patch on my coat that is a green heart with the name Agnes on it. Every birthday or Christmas card I give her I sign it Agnes but I spell it with the A being an Anarchy symbol.
Ive had a few from many over the years, Some stuck more than others. #2, A buddy has another friend who is his business partner and the 'Austin power' movies and jokes brought it to stay. Schoolboy and part time. In high school I worked construction summers and after school for a bit. I was the only person on the line I worked not a felon or in the halfway house. By the time I left, I had a high position and 'foreman' status. Part time dropped when I worked all night and school during day. Im 6'4 so 'big country', Yogi, Too tall, Tiny and a couple others that were out of the blue. My last name was/is the main and what I go by or initials. Or friends who use yogi or any of above.
Angeza...I like it A lot of people shorten my name, its one of those 3 syllable names you can shorten a few different ways my boyfriend and I call each other baby pretty much exclusively. It feels extremely strange to actually call him by his real name. I'm big on calling other people nicknames. I don't really call any of my friends by their real names. A few of the nicknames I call my friends include but are not limited to: pookie, tarentino, carlito, susu, doodoobrain, dummy, Christopher robin, may may, ame-butt, Mayfield, etc....nicknames are fun and of course we all have our black girl names (no offense intended). mine is shanika
My closest mates:- Scattercash,One-Lung,Mick-the-Devil,Spud,Wassie,The Plank and Twinkletoes. All former 45RMC,all blokes I served with. It's a truth that when you KNOW you can trust a person with your life-you do. That,in turn,leads to friendships that time cannot weaken.
i go by themnax everywere i go. everyone i current know who i see frequently call me them-nax. i mean that's my identity. that's who i live as. i have a mundane neame of course, and most of the people who know me know that too. but themnax is just who i am to everyone face to face in real life. my birth name is just for signing checks and legal stuff like that. a long time ago when i lived at bed spring acres, i was called the mad proffessor. no good reason except i guess i was kind of pendantic or something. but that's pretty much the only time i can recall having had a pseudonym inflicted on me that i hadn't invented myself.
i wasnt going to post any of my nicknames. but this one made me decide to. some people used to call me shenainai (sp) i am pretty sure it started because they couldnt pronounce my last name which was close to this but it was from the martin lawrence show. but after a while people started thinking that was my real name.
