  2. OMG, taxpayers are slaves! Look, they both benefit from their labor, or something.

Holly shit this is some racist alt-right bull shit.

I tell ya what why don't you "work" for me? I promise I will give you the same standard of housing and food the slaves had. No money off course since you get to look at the beautiful view of my land and I take care of all your needs.

Even for you this is disappointing.

People actually had pro-slavery arguments 200 years ago.

    Thankfully automation rendered slavery obsolete.

  6. Of course people had pro-slavery arguments. And you're comparing that to using tax dollars to make people's lives better? I still don't get it.

Do farmers have to clothe, feed, shelter, and provide first aid to a combine harvester? A machine that can do the work of 40 slaves in a given day.

Slavery in the west was ending as the Industrial Revolution was underway.

And I support the pro-slavery arguments about as much as I support pro-tax arguments for the same reason.

And that level of support is zero.

So you don't believe in taxes.
How are you going to pay the for the military, public water systems, dams, bridges, highways, police, libraries, prisons, court systems, economic development, snow removal, and disaster relief, to mention a few?
    Oh, and the Mexican wall?

I assume you want private armies, roads, police, courts, etc?

You are really mixing up your dates and you seem to do so to muddy the moral waters on slavery. Machinery is more expensive than free labor and always will be. The benefit only comes when you don't have to pay the machine.

Absolute nonsense to imply a moral high ground on this issue.

I imagine it would be a pain in the ass to be a slave owner. You’ve got to pay a lot of money to pay for their cost of living, making sure they stay healthy enough to do the work, so that alone proves that slaves are not cheap. Also you have worry about keeping your slaves loyal to you so they get the work done, and follow orders without having them rebel against you. By running away or killing you and your family. Which happened to a good number of slave owners who were too hard on the slaves they owned. There were in fact huge slavery rebellions that took place in Caribbean that Confederate newspapers tried to silence and suppress the information about, to prevent a mass uprising.

Of course the history revisionists will like to preach that it was only the “morally righteous” government that was responsible for ending slavery, and technology had “absolutely nothing” to do with it. Meanwhile people like you eat this shit up.

The same history revisionists that teach public school kids that every society was a flat-earth society before Columbus “discovered” America and proved the world was round. Which is bullshit on so many levels

Karl Marx wrote a little book entitled "Wages, Prices & Profit" showing that although industrialised countries had abolished 'slavery' per se, employees were nothing more than 'wage slaves'. Although terms and conditions of employment have improved immensely since Marx wrote that tome, nonetheless, the basic tenet still applies, employees are 'wage slaves'.

    LOL @ wage slavery

Is slavery ever voluntary? Did slaves sign up to do forced labor?

As an employee my employer PAYS me money based on a voluntary agreement I chose, which enables me to feed myself .

Conversely, the state TAKES my money against my will to pay for things I oppose or don't benefit from.

    Who is more my oppressor?
