GMP Chief Constable: Falls on his Sword: Greater Manchester Police chief Ian Hopkins stands down amid force failures . https://twitter.com/gmpolice/status/1339969491766292481
The force was put into an "advanced phase" of monitoring on Thursday, after inspectors found it had failed to record 80,000 crimes in a year.
Several failures - have seen a strong force majorly weakened (starting before Hopkins) Cuts, Bad investments, Break up of infrastructues that supported Operational Policing - it was only a matter of time
They spent too much time in going around Pubs and telling them to turn the music down instead of solving real crime . GMP are crap .
Hmm I'd have to say, Yes - and No, Mysteron Goverment (and Lord Mayor!) directive to pioritise an un-policible task (that coulda/shoulda been done by Environmental agencies) take away (under-funded, under-manned, under-resourced and broken infrastucture) officers/staff that; despite dversity, still have a core of integrity
So Boris has cancelled Christmas, The North has had No change to figures and stands robust. The South, however has; despite the initial reservations that myself, Mysteron and others had about the Vaccine being the solution - clearly that hasn't worked. a New Tier: 4 has been created Logical and History was there for all to see. This is another example of poor strategy, fire-fighting and too slow to lock a door that should have been locked. Time we find a builder called Bran, don our Black cloaks, look to recruit fellow 'brothers' (/sisters') and defend against the threat, - albeit this time from the South
Our daughter explained her 3 step approach for dealing with pub problems. Step 1. Sit outside in the car. Step 2. Turn the blue lights on for a few seconds. Step 3............ If 1 and 2 fail. Walk in looking bored and ask the rowdy ringleader if he REALLY wants a police record when he applies for a job. It works and the bonus is that when she passes them in the street and they are sober, they smile and say hello. Step 4............Very rarely needed, Make a mental note of the ringleader. Go back to the station for a sandwich and a cup of tea. Them drop round to his home and drag him out of bed at 4:30 am in the morning. Just don't forget to take a vomit bowl. As she sees it when she watches police documentaries from places like Manchester and sees van loads of police turning up and everyone rolling in the gutters, it is like a stupid Friday and Saturday night game that has got out of hand. Clearly, once you have created such a crazy situation, turning things around will never be easy. It also looks as if a lot of domestic calls follow the same pattern. What you say is so true, while all this is going on the REAL criminals are sitting at home laughing.
Hmm, Yep. that sounds about right in the way things do happen in the MET. (I'm taking that your daughter has more experience of this happening) - (in the South) The edited version of TV 'documentary' presentation rarely tells the real/true story, Only those who work in the area know what goes on - and why
You are correct. Christina is based in Westminster and finds the shop security staff, along with the local authority wardens a far bigger pain in the ass than the public. You may remember the one where a litter warden fined a guy £80 when a piece of paper fell out of his pocket while he was getting his phone out. the piece of paper was a £20 note. It tied the police up for more than an hour and ended up on news at 10. Christine is moving to the CID robbery squad based in Hammersmith in the new year. The worst part of her career was the 6 months at Grenfel tower following the fire, it still gives her nightmares. So true, that is why the Met will not participate in these programs. Their main fear is that they give potential recruits a very wrong impression of how the Met operates.
Each Force has its Good, Bad and Ugly side to it. My experience of the MET is similar to others in that underresouce is a key element of its capacity to function to its potential. Farming out enfocement to other agencies who either seek to feed their ego, or rely on making a profit for themselves by fining every and any one they can Robbery though challenging can be rewarding - and less stressful than dealing with tragedy. Having been involved in a filming exercise a few years ago - the message shown and presented to the public is only that which the TV Director chooses.
."Where's that Wall Bran? - the danger looks like; for the most part, it's coming with its New Strain - from the South"
Meanwhile in 'Greater' Manchester:- (the boroughs are split as below) - - Although, there is a distinction between North and South Manchester. The North is more densely populated, higher rate of industrial areas and include a diverse Student body, whereas the South, is much more rural.
Meanwhile, back within the Force ... And to take his place = ? Whilst I know it's PILLING, There has been No announcement that shows intent and example of Leadership - I guess the observational findings of H.M. Inspectorate had a point
The Trafford rates percentage increase is worrying . Our towns rates are the best for once . Tier2 would have been justified albeit for a short period.
I doubt we'll stay Tier 3 for long. With the New strain beginning to make its mark on the Country (which'll obviously be 'our' fault) I can see us copping for a National Tier 4 level before they'll downgrade us. (And scenes from the 'Trafford Centre' - curtesy of M.E.N. don't help the cause)
We actually went to the Trafford Centre just before Christmas Day and we saw the vast majority people obeying the rules.Their own martials were there as well to give people gentle reminders including us as we ended up going the wrong way ariund as they have one way systems in place . The signage regarding this does need to be improved at the entrance we came in. Numbers are also limited as there was a queue to get in as we left .
