Didn’t realize the kid was allowed to run in the preliminaries, but not in the final. Sounds like he was threatening to take the prise from a chosen winner to me.
I've never been to New Zealand but it looks as though it gets chilly there also by the way those people are dressed. Somehow I thought that it is always warm there. Perhaps barefooting is not a year round activity there?
Here are some instructive comments about the topic of this thread: New Zealand experience? • r/barefoot
"1 in 100 but enough to make it noticeable" That is about the ratio one would have found in my part of the U.S. in a typical mall circa 1973. That was enough to make me comfortable being one of them.
I remember the early 70's well. Back then one could go barefoot and no one would look twice. You can thank McDonald's for making up the health department lie by placing the decal on their doors saying "No bare feet, by the order of the department of health", the athletic shoe industry for making tennis shoes fashionable and the Aids epidemic of the early 80's. All three killed the barefooting movement.
As I mentioned somewhere else, the first significant No Bare Feet sign, except for a tiny one at a mall entrance that no one paid attention to, was Radio Shack of all places.
Yes that's exactly what they were trying to do, because the finals have already been rearranged 3 weeks prior.
Nah not that cold. In a few parts of the country it snows...if you want snow you have to make a trip to those parts of the country, but no snow here.
Sounds great but I go so used to being the only barefooter around here that I'd probley start wearing shoes on a regular basis if I moved there. Lol
