Hey is that the "ecovillage of Florida" project or is it something different? I did talk a bit with the ecovillage folks at the IC conference at Twin Oaks this summer, been meaning to go check out their scene. As a mom I've found it can be hard to find ICs that are really willing to have kids and families. It's a real shame too, even though I understand that childcare can take time away from an ICs businesses and chores but the benefits of raising children in community seem so enormous. I spent some time this summer at Acorn which was reforming as a family-focused IC but there was no childcare going on,and a 50 hour work quota with childcare counting for none of it. I have a toddler,as well as an older child and I want to find a community where there's some supervision for little kids and I don't want it to fall on my oldest to watch her brother all the time. It's unfortunate that so many ICs are not family-friendly and there are people who see kids as a burden. I see them as the future,ya know?
