New War In The South Against Gay Rights

That is the core of the issue. Transgender ppl have been using the appropriate facilities according to their gender identity for years and no one knew. THERE WAS NEVER A PROBLEM. These laws are only existing because of ppl projecting a problem where in fact there never was one. Like ppl afraid their girl child will see a penis. NO SHE WON'T -she hasn't yet.

However, not all trans ppl pass as easily, so some may be suspect. With these BAD LAWS in place, ppl may now call cops because they have such suspicions. (I'm waiting to hear about the butch lesbians who are often difficult to tell from guys being challenged for being in the ladies room. Actually, I am waiting for the embarrassed responses from the pigs who act on that wrong suspicion and for the resulting lawsuit settlements for "pain & suffering").

These laws are an attempt at discrimination against someone who doesn't fit the mainstream norm, like with gay ppl whom the bigots just lost a big hateful discrimination now that they can marry. Srsly, you may hear me rag on Christians because the fundamentalists who call themselves that are the most hateful ppl this side of fundamentalist Islam. Speaking of which, there have been more Catholic priests on record for assaulting children than transgender ppl, so why aren't there laws against Catholic Priests going into men's rooms.

 

It's mostly a manufactured controversy, like those theoretical voter fraud cases that never really happen, which led to all those voter ID laws that disenfranchise so many older black voters. Easily led people get into a frenzy over whatever Fox News wants to talk about that week.

On the other side of the coin, today's most extreme and absurd political correctness story (so far): A transportation business convention scheduled for Raleigh in the summer of 2018 has been cancelled! This controversy is less than a month old, and people are already worried about two years from now?

 

I don't think we have to worry about locker rooms being unisex. If that was even mentioned by ANYONE----revolution to end all revolutions! As far as a "female " with a dick going into the locker room of the women------c'mon. Other way around? C'mon. With our Judeo-christian mores, people would get lynched because of being so uptight about the casual mixing of the sexes.
Again--I guess I don't get it if privacy--closed booths--are the norm---how are people to tell the shape of someones genitals? Why would someone be interested in that anyway?

I live in a very liberal state and I still see signs in establishments around here that say "we reserve the right to deny service to anyone." And nobody has ever made a nationwide stink about this.

Now, I'm pretty sure this does not mean they have the greenlight to deny services to gays and foreigners, just because they're gay and not from around here. But I'm honestly not sure if that's what it means or not.
I mean I can see the rational argument behind this when you get 86'd from a commercial property for being obscene or committing a crime, then yes that place should have the right to deny you service indefinitely. However I can easily see a social justice whiner try to make a case out of a tranny being 86'd from a bar for a legitimate reason like disorderly conduct, and then trying to file a discrimination suit against that bar. Even though they were thrown out for being a jerk, not for being transgender.

The NBA is taking a somewhat reasonable position on this. The commissioner says there's no way the NBA all-star game is going to be held in Charlotte next year as scheduled if the current law is still in place, but says it's way too early to announce a formal cancellation. There's plenty of time for the problem to be resolved.

Latest boycott: Blue Man Group, Charlotte show. The schedules for most of our larger entertainment venues are rather empty this summer. Most of the right wing activists won't care, because they get most of their live entertainment at church. They actually seem to be encouraged by boycotts from liberals in the entertainment world; proof that they're doing the right thing.

I don't have any hope for a quick resolution to this disaster.

 

The evolving of humanity seems to have been slowed/stymied by ancient texts that are not as inclusive as they should be, IMO. WE all are born, we die and do some shit in between.
Then we're forgotten, pretty much. We've been around for hundreds of thousands of years--and we're still fretting about crotch business. Pathetic showing, if you ask me.

 

I was just talking to somebody up north about how cold it is there, and it's a perfect summer day down here, ideal for taking a long walk under big trees with fully mature leaves. It's a shame this place is wasted on so many angry people who want to spend all their time trying to serve a manufactured image of a white, middle class, American conservative Jesus who teaches people to hate.

 

Somebody said the NC boycott is hitting the state government where it hurts (in the pocketbook), speaking to them in the only language they understand (money), but there is no sign yet that this is true. No sign of anyone in Raleigh budging an inch. I think they're convinced they'll be fine in the long run, when people flock here who are seeking the kind of conservative utopia they plan to establish. Contributions to the state GOP from religious people have gone up, not down.

This is reversing nearly 200 years of NC being one of the most liberal Southern states. NC set up the first publicly funded university in America, and strongly resisted the formation of the Confederacy. Our governor John Morehead led a committee that was formed to find peaceful alternatives to the Civil War.

I never thought I would be on the receiving end of a boycott, especially by social liberals. It's hard.

At the office, the bathroom sign I ordered finally arrived, and our men's bathroom was officially changed to unisex. I'll be using it most of time. If we ever have a transgender visitor here, the problem has already been taken care of, quickly and easily.

Most of what I've done has already been forgotten.

 

Speaking of this subject, Target started a new rule that allows anyone who "identifies" as the gender they want to be, can use that said restroom. Target's Stock price has taken a hard hit from it.

I was in a restaurant yesterday went to use the restroom and noticed there was no urinal .. so I continue about my business .. when I went to use it the 2nd time, I noticed I accidentally used the ladies room the first time.. so I went in the men's room, no urinal there either. so confused.

one time I was pissing in one these and a girl come inside with me, she knew I was standing on the side and couldnt wait any longer.

 

Close all bathrooms, make people go out back and piss in the alley...

 

Why would investors care? I don't see any potential impact on profits.

Wow. It's starting to look like no matter which side an organization chooses in this controversy, they risk a boycott.

I think I'll go to Target tomorrow to support their policy.
