Oh wow, I wasn't sure how famous it was, just came across it in a google search.

Sounds like a very peaceful way of living, welcome to the thread

 

Sometimes, I think I'd appreciate that slower pace of life and living closer to the land...

here's a wonderful hippie story;

One evening my boy friend and I were hitch-hiking down Hollywood boulevard when these two black dudes slam on the brakes of their black Cadillac and ask us if we wanted a ride. My boy friend Dennis, who is one of the coolest people I have ever met says,

“Ya man, we could sure use a ride about now.”

So we hop in the back seat and away we go. After a few miles I lean over to the front seat and tell the driver we want to get off at the next turn. He says OK but when he gets to the turn, he goes right by it.

“Hey man,” I yell, “You forgot to let us off at the ****** turn.”

He didn’t say anything, just kept on driving.

“WTF” I scream. “Let us out of this car you ******* or I’m going to start screaming for help out my window.”

No reply, He just keeps on driving. So I start to roll down my window when Dennis grabs my arm and says,

“Hey babe, cool it. We’ll be alright.”

“Alright?? These guys are kidnapping us as far as I can tell.”

At that point the car turns into a drive way and the two guys get out and tell us to follow them. So Dennis grabs my hand and leads me into the house. Needless to say I am a very unhappy camper.

Inside the house in the living room about twelve colored people, men, women and children are sitting on the rug in a circle talking. We join the circle on the floor and Dennis immediately takes out his bag of dope and starts rolling joints and passing them around. Well about an hour later I’m feeling more stoned than pissed. I whisper to Dennis,
“Do you think there’s anyway we can get out of here?”

He looks at me and says,”No problem babe.”

Then he tells the guys who brought us that we would like to go home now and the four of us get up and climb back into the car. And to my great surprise they drive us right up to our front door step.

And as they drive away Dennis looks at me and says, “Those were really great people.”
