Just what we need, new sins. I haven't finished with the old ones yet! "Vatican lists "new sins," including pollution By Philip Pullella VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Thou shall not pollute the Earth. Thou shall beware genetic manipulation...."
Thou shalt not pollute the earth doesnt seem all that new , the Native Americans and some of the Pagan religions have been following that belief forever , being native american I was raised to respect the earth and to give back anything i take , and we are just caretakers here , we get out what we give .
Here are the new sins: Do not pollute the earth. No genetic or stem cell research. No environmental blighting. No drug abuse. Do not create Social and economic injustices Being Excessively Wealthy. so yea what do you think??
funny , ok , i KNOW im a kid , but it seems like those were always around somewhere , except for the stem research stuff ?
so no excessive wealth now i guess the vatican is just gonna give away the billions ty squandered? uess the'urn all the treasures theyve stockpiled and hidden? most of these new sins are simply pagan values except the political 1 snuck in there about the genetic research why add new ones when they still havent even figured out what thou shalt not kill means yet
Precisely my next question... You kinda have to shake your head when you realize that these are also current major POLITICAL issues. Hmm I wonder if there is a connection? *INSERT DIABOLICAL SARCASTIC LAUGH HERE*
I dont know , they wernt exactly called sins , in my family anyway , it kinda boiled down to , respect yerself and the Earth.....if you take good care of both of them they will take good care of you...something like that anyway....Im not sure why someone had to go put some religious spin on it now.
because the church is nothing more than a political money making machine. "Killing is wrong, adultery is wrong, and oh ya, Jesus forgot to say this, but stem-cell research is wrong." I've noticed they have also added drug use. uh oh. looks like im gonna burn....
I think what is important to note is tha the Catholic understanding o sin is a little different than some other peoplesviews. We understand sin can be an act that you do or do not do intenttionally to cause harm to others or yourselves. 3 criteria are in place there: 1) It has to be intentional 2) It has to cause harm 3) you have to know it was wrong to do. So to look at the wealth sin, I think it is more hoarding wealth without givin any to anyone else. The pollution one is I think wha can be considered social sin, where it is not the individuals reonsibility alone, but th full community of humans. But still, the 3 criteria apply.
